Hello,
I bought my first Electra in 1976, and have been hooked ever since. I'm the proud player of the three beauties that are pictured here.

Thanks very much for the replies. The center guitar seems to be a Studio Zepher, but notice the odd cut-away. (Vulcan type?) If anyone can help id this guitar, that would be great.

yes... it was the cutaway that had me scratching my head... that combined with the blond finish had me thinking vulcan, but without the mpc layout, i was again/still confused.... i guess it must have be a zepher as you suggest, but a later version of it... they did the same to the omega if i remember correctly...

Ya know... the Endorser has that cut-away, hmmmm. Mine is really interesting, someone installed the vibrato tailpiece also, which actually stays in tune.

yes... i think/guess that became more or less the basic body shape for the electra LP-like guitars at about the time the endorser came out

"Post Lawsuit" shape....Looks like the Electra guitars were responding to changes inthe market with their designs....in mid 1976 it was getting uncomfortable for all importers that delt in copy guitars to protect their business, especially Ibanez-threats from Norlin, Fender and Rickenbacker motivated these companies to change the copywrite protected parts of these designs most notibly the headstock shape (at least 2 times) and -I believe-the body shape. That little turnaround where the upper bout meets the neck seems to have appeased the Norlin folks. Ibanez did the same exact change and replaced the LP clones with the performer series...

Why is it everyone but me has like a million Electras?
I have...well...one.
And the tone pot/fat switch don't wrok.
:P

Anyway, nice collection. I like the 1 1/2 cutaway over the standard LP style, and yours looks absolutely gorgeous, HayHollow.

I'm new here too; I signed up due to my newfound love of Electra basses and my desire to learn more about them. Currently, I have a modified X620 "Outlaws" bass and a 2261 Tri-Tone/Solid Sound (Gibson EB-3L slothead copy) as my two main basses, and I'm definitely looking to add to the family.

Thanks very much for the gracious welcome. Alas, the first Electra I puchased was while I was in high school, wasn't able to make the payments (!), had to return it to the dealer. Now I can't remember the model, only that it was jacaranda, MPC, and had brass nut. Can anyone help jog my memory?

Yes they do look good. I also bought my first in high school around that time. X310, It was a jaw dropper to my friends. Like those stands too.
