Thanks for the confirmation. Despite all my efforts to prove to the contrary, air really seems to be the only thing it could be.

Looks like you did well for $250.00.

I used to have one of the rick copy basses that had shrunken away from the finish such that most of the finish on the back of the neck flaked off. I only paid $25.00 for it, so I just touched it up with Tung Oil and played it until I found a better bass. That was a maple neck, though, so maybe yours won't get that bad (chances are it would have by now, that bass was 12-13 years ago). Some of that old poly does strange things.
