I have a x 290 workingman from 1981 it has a crack on both sides of the body near the neck , is that normal ? works fine , all original and it stays in tune

does anybody know if this is a standard for these guitars?

thank in advance

Pictures would be nice. The X290 is the painted version of the Workingman, so I'm wondering if it is just a crack in the paint. Being a bolt-on guitar it is conceivable that the neck has shifted and the paint cracked, fairly common, you see this on lots of Fenders, little chips of paint loss near the neck pocket. I wouldn't lose sleep over it unless the wood has been compromised.

Every Electra I have has some sort of finish/paint cracking at the neck.
