So i own an Endorser X935 60th Anniversary number 0035. Does anybody know how many of these were actually made? I have owned this guitar for close to 15 years and I am really curious. I have seen a 60th on ebay a few times and I got wondering, how many are there and what is the history of the 60th. Out of all my guitars I know less about this one and I have had it longer than the rest of them.

No production totals are known, for any Electra's really, including the X935. If you peruse the forum topics you can read much speculation, but nothing is known for fact. Here is a topic about Dave G's Transblack X935 (1982 60th serial number 0160):

What we gathered is that the early X935's were slightly different than the 1983 version, they had the Peacesign logo on the headstock, logo tuners, bigger dot fret markers and apparently no belly cut on the back of the guitar, and the 60th anniversary plate screwed to the back of the headstock, basically indicating a 1982 build.

Not a historian here, but I think you'll find that just about anything made in '82 has the 60th anniversary plate on them. They look neat and all, but are not that rare, and frankly the 60th ann. plates are not as specific as the seven digit serial numbers for dating the month of manufacture. I think one could mark this down as an advertising/marketing plan, basically calling attention to SLM's 60th year of distribution, not guitar manufacturing per say.

It is generally accepted that the Transblack or Blackburst Endorsers (X935) were in production before the Cherry Sunburst model (X935cs), of which the earliest Serial Number I've noted is from December of 1982, and I've never seen a Cherry Sunburst without the 'Bird' logo, if anyone has one, please post pics!

Unfortunately for collectors (or investors...) total production has little to do with Value after the fact. A guitar will become popular or pricey more for its features and Celebrity association than the limited number it was produced in. Many examples of this, my favorite is the Fender Musiclander (sometimes called the 'Swinger' or 'Arrow') which was an attempt on Fenders part to get rid of old Bass VI parts, and production is estimated at only 300 total guitars. Obviously don't see them very often, but when you do, they are in the $1000 - $1400 range, where as most pre-CBS Fenders go for ten times (sometimes more!) than that even though there are thousands upon thousands of those guitars out there.

Very Nice... what's up with the volume knobs? Looks like they're non original, and may have been drilled out. Just curious.

no, they are the originals. not really sure why they are the way they are. the toggle knob cap has been broken off too. toggle still works, just no cap. but the guy i bought it from sold it for 75 bucks when i was 13 or 14 so i had to do it. its been in the back of my mind and pocket book to do some work to it and get it looking nicer. just time and money, it plays beautifully the neck and intonation are perfect just those knobs and some of the headstock binding needs work
