Anything with the wave headstock like yours is post 1976. If the nut is original it is probably a '77-'78 vintage, as (I believe...) they started using the brass nuts later. Also, the size of the peacesign logo is larger than the later versions, which eventually got pretty small at the end of the headstock... so I would say '77 or '78 production. Model is most likely the 2242 (Black w/ gold hardware).

yeah, i remember playing his awhile back and liking it alot and he said he was getting rid of it so i threw him like 240 for it... which might be too much? oh well, i could careless. he's supposed to be shipping it out friday so im pretty anxious to have it in my possession.

I like the way it looks, although I gotta ask, how'd the tailpiece get like that?
Weird how the gold just kinda peeled off (or so it looks...)

It's still a good looking guitar. Wiping the hard wear down after touching it or playing it with a polishing clothe, is the bestway to prevent this. It happens on all brands, in or out of a case. (read that on Gibson.com or Sterwart Mac or maybe here) And play it every day if you can.

It's an Ibanez, doesn't take much to improve it. :P

So i've been playing this guitar for a good while. I definitely dig it, but the thing that has been bothering me is that in the treble position, the bridge pickup definitely sounds really thin in comparison to all the other guitars i've played over the years.. any idea why?

i'll update with some new pictures later also.

yep, cheap gold plating. You gotta love that stuff, it's 70's, don't see that in the 80's. I'd rather love the patina then sweat the imperfection.

Concerning your 'thin' sounding pickup, I've had the misfortune of having some pickups go bad on me, and that sounds like what you're describing. I believe that when the windings get compromised (shorted) essentially fewer windings are being used, resulting in lower output, sometimes almost no output!

Obviously it could be wiring or your selector switch also, but from your description, that's what it sounded like when it happened to me.
