I picked up this sweet little number on craigslist for twenty bucks! I could not be more excited! obviously, needs a bridge, among other misc. pieces.

anyone have any ideas on where to find a bridge? I've looked online quite a bit and I'm ready to just put a badass on it or something, just so I can play it!

anyone have a clue on what this is exactly? 2261 I assume? year range? it is not cherry/red - it is brown. it had the muting bridge. I have two parts from the bridge, but the saddles are gone, the cover is gone and a the screws that hold the bridge are gone. the large piece of bridge is pretty bent -- looks like someone strung it through the holes for the saddles. ugh.

overall, in great shape, though. no case either. I'd love a real one. and I'd love a real bridge and trussrod cover.

thanks, cap'n. the more I think about putting a badass or something on this the more I want to cry, so I think I may hold out as long as possible ... maybe I can utilize the pieces I have and put in new saddles, studs and wheels? not sure...

My first "good bass" was an EB3 so this gives me some memories. Can't say I liked it much though and we parted company. Although it may not be Electra correct, have you thought of putting an EB3 style bridge on it as it would complete the look? I would think they would be available. I can do some digging if that is a direction you choose to go.

I've tried to find this "two-point" style of EB3 bridge and have not been successful. the EB3 bridge (on a '69 I think) was like what is on this Electra. I've looked quite a bit and have not found anything... thanks!

thanks for the effort, workingman. unfortunately, that is the three-point bridge and it is missing the saddles like the one I have that was original to the Electra.

I may just try and get saddles that fit close enough to work (and be able to have correct intonation) and new studs/wheels for the bridge plate that I have.

If it wasn't for the studs in the body, I'd say that you should go for the Badass.
Yes, usually I do not advocate modding an Electra.
But in any case where parts arem issing/broken, maybe it'd make more sense to go for the functionality over originality.

I just really hate leaving those studs and holes in the body with Gibson-type bridges...

..And hey, you have a P-Bass, correct?
What else do you need?

yeah, my P-bass deluxe has served me well for a long time.

although, I have been looking for "just the right" second bass and this thing just ooozes the vibes I like to share.

I may just try and mod the bridge plate I have and fit it with new saddles and try that route ... I certainly don't think it will hurt any. ha.

Have you tried asking at the talkbass forum? Someone there may have one or know someone who has one...

All in all I agree that these are instruments tha are meant to be played and functionality trumps originality (of course functionality can be in eyes {hands?} of the beholder).

I really have strayed away from there, seemed too dry and far too big for my tastes.

of course it's a pricey original...

I believe the original Electra bridge had the nylon/plastic saddles... I've been searching online for pics but came up empty. I may have some pics at home though....

You know, my dad is a machinist.
I dunno about chrome, but he can make you the parts out of brass, aluminum, steel, plastic, etc.
I just don't know if he'd be willing to ship them out, maybe.
