Hello.
I'm trying to help my father gain some information and background on this guitar.
It was used when he got it and he had to give it some work to make it playable.
Some knobs and things are not stock. I think he put that whammy bar on it.

Thanks for the help!

Looks to be a XV3GR model to me. You can view the information on this model at this link: http://www.rivercityamps.com/electra/dynasty.php
Hope this helps, don't see many of the XV3GR mostly it's lipstic red counterpart. Looks nice.

Thank you! Great link.

So they were only made from 83-84 ? That's interesting.

Any idea how many were made?

No production totals are known. None of the Japanese manufacturers were like PRS or Martin keeping meticulous production totals, or if they did, it's not like they've ever published those figures.

Your guitar was produced in May of 1984 (the 405 portion of the serial number), the remaining four digits refer to it's place in the months production run. I've noticed (not scientific...) that many of the lower numbers in the month are often bolt on guitars, whereas the later numbers can be found on some of their higher end models. Again, no facts to back that up, just what I've seen.

Your Dynasty has the more pointy headstock, and the briefly used 'Bird' Electra/Westone logo, which also helps to date it. In a two year Period Electra became Phoenix/Electra and then changed to Westone completely by 1985. Despite the weird body shape and Japanese origins, the Electra/Phoenix/Westone's featured Tom Pressley American designed electronics that are only now (IMHO) being appreciated for how far ahead of their time they were. Enjoy, hope this helps.

That's really interesting, that's a really late XV3GR, I've never seen one made in 84, only 83. Thank you very much for the data point, your guitar fills in a vital piece of info!

They're scarce, not rare. You see a couple a year on ebay. They're rarer than the 'bent toe' Dynasty (red, black, and white)

The wiring is premium, the HSH scheme shared by the X199, X189, and X185. All the later pointy guitars got this as they were 'flagship' models.

Any Dynasty is a wonderfully balanced, sweet instrument, among the best of them! I am very fond of Vees because of their great resonance, and this is a great example!
