Wondering if anyone anywhere has any tips on troubleshooting MPC modules, specifically the flanger, or has any schematics for them.

Noticed at the 'fest that my flanger module immediately drops the guitar output volume when switched on, and sounds like someone blowing through a toilet paper tube. (Kinda "kazoo-ish") Changing the settings on the module, or the effect knob on the guitar doesn't seem to do anything to the sound either.

I've tried the module in other MPC guitars, and in other slots, and the problem always follows the module, so I'm sure that's the trouble.

Any insights / suggestions?

The very first thing I would try is cleaning the contacts with a pencil eraser if they are the flat blade type. If they are pins, a squirt of Deoxit contact cleaner should do the trick. Dust and corrosion cause lots of odd problems just like you described. Cheap, easy and quik.

I had tried the eraser cleaning, but that didn't do it. I shoulda put that in my OP. A little Deoxit won't hurt though either. Thanks for the tip.
