Absolutely! There are many great Czech guitars, actually. I like Jolana guitars quite a bit.

There's an excellent guide to different models at www.cheesyguitars.com

Well alright!!!
So I have some Czech made Deans from the late 90's. I still need to track down some info on these to be a bit more precise on when they were made date wise.

?? Korina V Czech made Natural Top Notch guitar! -DKV First Dean I ever bought. Got it on Evilbay Halloween night 2003. :-? :hyper:

?? Korina V Czech made Trans Amber V Tania

?? Korina Z Czech made Prototype with one off Black Finish and Bowtie inlays -Blackstar

Pre Star treatment :D

After Star treatment with a '96 USA Dean V Coupe I "starred" also....

The stars are 3M reflective vinyl like used on street signs... :o

?? Korina Z Czech made Trans Amber Z Tatiana...see note below....

My good friend Jay's Czech made Korina Z in Clear.

I have not had mine, a Trans Amber one like the second V above, home to photo yet.

Brother Ben Chafin has it doing some of his Guitar Master Love Repairs to it. I bought it at the Dean Open House Silent Auction in February and it was definately a scratch and dent model.
Maybe I will get some shots of it tomorrow I DO need to take Ben a nice set of double cream Manilus "PAF" like pickups for it.

Word is the company manufactured accordions primarily prior to building for Dean. Still do for that matter. Few years ago someone over on the Dean board posted a link to where they were selling about 6 unfinished guitars in an factory seconds type sale. They sold a nearly finished V cheap but no one this way got it. These guitars are really well made and standup to any USA stuff. Good woods, Schaller hardware, and probably Schaller pickups. The pickups are even real decent for import stuff. Although they vary. I have replaced them in the Amber V with Duncan Antiquities which sound like some wonderful ol' PAFs. I am taking a pair of Manilus pickups to be put in the Trans Amber Z. They too have a PAF sound to them. Duncan 59s are a GREAT pickup in Limba guitars so I think the Manilus will be too. YMMV of course.

I like the stars -- good choice of something that's stunning onstage but can always be removed if you change your mind.

That reminds me (I'd forgotten completely) that when I first had my red X185, I put black stripes on it with electrical tape. EVH had just hit big and yes, I liked his look although mine was very different, not a Van Clone. Vinyl electrical tape was perfect as your stars are too. THanks for jogging my memory!

Did the same to this Mighty Mighty body Star until I decided to strip it and found the prettiest Bird's Eye Maple Neck and body.

The red is latex paint over gray latex paint. :o :-? :toopid:

First time I stripped it I didn't get deep enough to see the Bird's eye good enough and ended up making it a Goldtop for a couple years. I then met a guy who put Clear Nitro on it after restripping it. YUM!!! :D It had a late '60s SG pickguard on it.
