Seller is under the impression that its a Electra Neck on a Epiphone body, not certain why he would think that. Looks stock to me. Haven't seen a Maple Pro on eBay in quite some time, could be a real find for someone. Very Clean looking, 1977 serial number. The sellers obsession with Epiphone references left a bad taste in my mouth, the seventies quite possibly being the lowest point in Gibson quality, historically... as if Gibsons economy brand is still better than a Japanese guitar, god I hate snobs.

I agree, it looks all factory. Thats a lot of work to change a set neck and body. If I had the cash I would go for it. I like the necks on those.

The purpose of this strategy is to scare off the Electra collectors (non-original? no thanks) and the Epiphone collectors (cause it aint no epiphone) so the price stays low for some true blue guitar lover to score it.

I've thought a lot about auctions like this and the only explanation is that the guitar itself is hypnotizing the seller into making ridiculous claims so that a worthy new owner is found through reverse psychology.

go for it! If I were into jazz boxes like this I'd be on it.

Well it's been relisted with the correct model information:

Gone are the Epiphone references, and current price is a steal, but who knows how high it will go by the end, good luck to all who have been looking for a Maple Pro (JMM..!!) this one looks really clean. Cheers, Mike.

Hey J, are there any differences in production early to late besides the headstock? He may be referring to a finish crack at the neck/body junction, which I'm finding to be common on set neck Mats.

10 weeks huh? I used to think that a guitar a year was a decent rate of consumption, but I just picked up my fourth this year (pics to come), so don't listen to me man! Good luck, Mike.

Dont worry, four guitars a month is not unreasonable at all!

You can re-set a set neck guitar, but it's a lot of work. Honestly, I ignore most descriptions as seller s are so deperate to have something to say that they'll repeat the silliest nonsense some guy told them...

but maybe they're right. All it takes to reset a neck is to steam it off, then shave it as needed and glue it back together. It's possible this was done, especially if the neck pocket became warped as happened with many japanese hollowbodies. Same deal? SOme new owner will find out...

Maple Pro ended up going for $578 (before Shipping), which personally I think was a steal... I think we've seen some Semi's exceed a grand in the past, and this one looked pretty clean and straight (original).

Part of me hopes this isn't a trend or further confirmation of the economic meltdown, another part of me says 'Man this is a great time to buy!!', but I've aquired four Electras this past year, and will either have to get some professional help, or just go for it and start really filling out the collection. Anyone got a X270, Leslie West or X910 (yeah right!) just collecting dust? Enjoy, Mike.

I have had my eye out for a Leslie West for a while. He used to live about a mile from here. I don't have the $$'s now so one will probably show up.

I put a bid in for it yesterday and was high bidder for a while but I was not going above $400 for it. Probably a good deal for what it went for but I'd kinda like to stay married if you know what I mean! :D
