I found it in a pawnshop down the street a couple of days ago. The owner was asking 200 but i talked him down to 150 without much effort. It wouldn't have bothered me much if i did have to pay the 200, i had already decided i wasn't going to leave without it. The guitar has a lot of character and you can tell by looking at it that it's seen some play, but she has some good songs left in her. Their is a chip in the head, one in the body, and some minor indents through out. Nothing that really effects how it plays and sounds. All hardware is functionial. I had not heard of Electra until i bought the X 250. I brought it home and did some research and found this forum. So far i love the way it sounds and i love the way it plays can't wait to explore it more and maybe even add a few in the future.....Here she is!!!

As far as photo size, I use a graphic converter to reduce the size of the pictures, usually they have to be around 200k size to fit on a web page without scrolling around, once they're reduced and named you can upload and link to them.

which has pictures of mine with control covers off, as well as catalog scans, etc. These are great little guitars! Of my modest collection of Electras, the X250 would have listed/sold for the least amount of money, yet this is the guitar I've been grabbing for practices and gigs lately, really versatile and a pleasure to play. This is the guitar I spent half of ElectraFest playing!!

Have you opened up the control cavity yet? The active boost circuitry is pretty mind blowing. Have you put batteries in and tested the EQ? 18 volt boost is mind boggling, bigger boost than my Gainster stomp box! Redeye will back me up on this, you can go from shimmering clean to swamp distortion just by changing the last knob (active volume).

Controls are (in case you haven't already worked it out):

Master Volume
Master Tone (1-5 in passive works like a normal tone control, in active mode below five reduces treble, above 5 boosts treble, has a center detent)
Bass Volume (does nothing in passive mode, in active mode below five cuts bass, above five boosts bass, center detent)
Active Volume Overall Volume of the Active EQ when enabled

Coil Cut Switch Up is Humbucker, down single coil
Phase Switch Up is normal, down is out of phase on mine, connected to Bridge pickup
Active On/Off Switch Up is off, down is on (on mine...) this is that huge 12 pin switch

A really remarkable amount of electronics and versatility for one of Electras 'mid-grade' axe's. I still continue to look for a unmolested X270 to see why they cost $165 more than the X250..? Only difference I've been able to find is the brass bridge and the little silver control indicators nailed into the front of the guitar, and they must have a completely different EQ board as there are only three knobs on the X270... ah well, I'll open one up someday!

I would encourage you to leave the Master Volume all the way up and use the Active Volume all the time, you can get really clean tones turned down without losing any high frequencies like you lose when you turn the normal volume down. Can't make out your serial number, what is it? (curious how close it is to mine, you seem to have a different truss rod cover)

Theirs no sticker on it with a serial the number on the back of the head is 103151.

Welcome to the site. Great find. So guys is that March, 1981, 151 off the line for the month? You came to the right site. you will love it here. It is a good looking guitar.
