Hi all

I'm a newbie to this forum, but not the website, I have been 'lurking' for a while now and am finally going to buy my first Electra. So what do you all think of this one, I don't think it has been discussed before, but I could be wrong.

Yeah, we've commented on this one before. It seems to be pretty clean and a prime cut of beef there, but a grand is kinda steep. Frankly, you should be able to find a nice X935cs in the $400-$600 range, and you just missed a Blackburst for 3 Bills:

http://cgi.ebay.com/1982-Electra-X935-P ... 500wt_1123

Which is basically the same guitar, just a different finish and doesn't have the flame top. Seller of the guitar you're interested in has been listing it for 30 days at a time for the past couple months, and I have to wonder if it's affecting prices (negatively...) for the other offerings. Market is a little soft right now, and it's a pretty good time to take the plunge if you're in that position.

I tell you, these X-150's are hot little numbers, bolt-on, but has a built in preamp and was one of the top of the line Phoenix's:

This particular X150 is a little pricey, and again has been on eBay for like 3 or 4 weeks without any nibbles, may be worth contacting the seller and see if he's willing to part with it for $300 plus shipping?

Here's a forum topic about my two cherry sunbursts:

And one about my Blackburst:

And here's a audio clip of a X935cs showing off it's versatility:

Welcome to the forum, Mike.

I think I agree with Pro on this one. It is a very clean, very nice guitar but in my opinion is way overpriced. The Electra line is very versatile and has many models to choose from and most are priced very low. This model comes up often and usually at a much lower price. This is why there have been no buy it now or bids on this one. Even the hollowbody models (Elvin Bishop, Maple Pro, X410 Jazz) rarley go for a grand. This model does have a very good build quality and great sound quality as well so good luck and welcome to the forums.

I thought it was a little pricey but wasn't sure thanks for the advice.

Hiya Jim and welcome - mate, that Phoenix X150 is a superb piece of kit; if I were a bit closer to it I'd be in like a big hairy dog, eh!! The Phoenix range arguably had the best necks around at the time... of any guitar!!

Btw, I was fortunate enough to win the one that went for 3 bills.
According to the seller, the push/pull pots were replaced with standard ones (along with the regular Electra knobs). I am going to put push/pull pots back in and I have 4 Electra knobs as well. The wiring needs some simple work too and then it should be good to go. Very excited.

Good score man, please do post pictures once you get her and show it off! Also, tell me if there is a seven digit serial number stamped on the headstock in addition to that anniversary plate, Mike.

I certainly will post some pics. It actually came today but I immediately dropped it off to my repair guy to get the ball rolling on the problems (all minor). The short time I had with it was positive. Everything is in good shape. Neck feels good. I will post as soon as I get her back.
