Hey fellas. I have a need for a super magnaflux humbucker. Either black and white, chrome or black would be fine... I am just having a hard time finding any pick ups that have the same mix of vintage and growl out of any modern pick up being sold.

If any of you fine folks have any laying around let me know.

What are you going to put it in? Is the Outlaw having problems? The older magnaflux's I've seen only have two wires, white and a braided ground. So there's no single coil or phase option unless you want to get in there and do some serious surgery. They seem to spec out at about 8k, which is pretty modest for a humbucker, although (I believe) the hotter the pickup the less fidelity it has.

Just re-read your post, 'super magnafluxs' so are you looking for MMK45's? I don't think Electra ever referred to their pickups in literature as MMK45's or MMK53's, but thats what you find in a lot of the guitars made between '80 and '84. Prior to that you see the 'serialized' humbuckers being used, at least that's what I have in my X810, Maple Pro and Outlaw. Both pickups will have a (seemingly random...) five digit number stamped on the bottom that match on the Neck and Bridge pickups.

Yeah, not too many of the Matt guitars were indeed adveertised as having MMK p'ups; the different companies all had their pet names for the same p'ups; nothing like having a wee mystery there, now, is there!!???

Nope the Outlaw is working just fine... I have an Invicta that got as well and I love the sound of the pups in that and I was thinking about putting one, or two in my new Faded SG that I came across.

Let me do some digging and I will see if I can find out exactly what pick ups are in the Invicta.

I had a feeling I wasn't giving enough info... sorry fellas.

The Invictas, Workingmans and X250's (all the walnut models...) had MMK45's in them stock, whereas the earlier MPC's, Super Rocks and Omegas seem to have the serialized pickups in them (not sure what they are 'really' called). Could this be the difference between the magnaflux and Supermagnafluxes?
