Found this one that claims to be an Electra but I have never seen this type SG before with open tuners and other oddities. Seller states that the logo has rubbed off but I have never had any of my logos from electra rub off or fade out no matter how hard I polish them. My guess is that is is a Bogus claim for an electra. I am not the SG expert nor the early PCM and electra experts so check it out and chime in with your opinion.

I hate to see someone get scammed on this one.

I snagged it up. There is really no going wrong in buying a working 70's SG for $200 out the door...

Electra or not...

Also, the guy has over 5000+ positive sales. If you misrepresent items you have to give the money back. Also, he says he's had it since the mid-90's. I'm normally a really trusting person and it shows here (and when I typed my bid on the other auction... hahha)...

Hopefully someone around here has some more info! Prototype PCM? hahaha. :)

Congrats on the score. Please send us some pics when you get it and the details on how she plays etc. I would be interested to know if it is indeed a PCM find etc. X189 may know. Thanks for the update and keep us posted.

Me:

"Hello, I recently purchased your advertised Electra SG you had for BIN. I was just wondering how you can be sure it is an Electra? Is there any other markings on it? Serial number?"

Him:"Because it said Electra on the headstock. I dont think it had a serial number, but it did say Made in Japan. Fedex picked it up a couple of hours ago. Thanks"

hahhaah.

We'll see.

Definitely a Global, had two at one time-one was a metallic lime green :barf: :yeah: . Super light, kinda Tiesco-esq funky, slightly microphonic tone-reminded me of some Hounddog Taylor recordings  If that don't work out for ya, I might have a 2259 w/mmk45s comin' up for sale.

Always helps to have all eyes on target when looking. Let us know what you see when you get it on the headstock logo. Thanks for the updates.

I searched for "SG Japan" :) and just looked...

the first thing I noticed "wrong" were the switches. SLM's didn't use them often if at all...
The second was the pickups.... Early SLM usually just had one open row of poles....

Global and PCM were roughly similar. I would also categorize the SLM Apollo line in the same category. They had some with double rows of poles....
It very well could have had an Electra logo on it...

remember, the earliest catalogue we have is 72-73, but we've had documented sales from members as early as '68 from SLM with an Electra name on them, so it's still really hard to be certain....
