Someone may want to check out this one. No photos posted but has original hard case with phase,bass/treb exp/fuzz/and overdrive modules that come with it and is stated as a 1 owner. Price is a little high but if it is indeed original 1 owner in good condition then price not so bad. I will try to get seller to send some photos. Good Luck.

Any input on this one, is this an early transition model or maybe a Dickey Bets model since it has only dot fret markers and has the extra coil tap switch and a 3 way selector switch instead of a 5 way? Looks nice only things missing are the MPC control tips. Has early style modules along with later model modules also. This one needs a good home.

The original owner said it never had the batwings on the switches and that they are the same as the coiltap switch. I am thinking along the samelins as it may be a hybrid that used leftover parts from earlier models etc. I wondered if it may be a Dickey Betts model maybe since it has the dot markers. I am undecided on this ones actual model but it looks to be a nice one with the case and 4 modules. Thanks for the input and I do love those beauties I got from you.I still have a hard time putting one down to pick up the other. Thanks again

Looks like a Dicky Betts Vulcan (referred in ad as a X930) to me:



The pictures you provided show the brushed control cover plates, identical to the ones used on the X960 Ultima, and the electronics down to the smaller switches and 3 way toggle for pickups are just like the Ultima as well.

January 1982 build date indicated by the serial number, so this would have been one of the last MPC's produced, in a very few months the X935 Blackburst would be introduced which besides the MPC route is almost identical to this guitar. In one of the price lists (too lazy to find it!) the X930 Vulcan is listed as the lone MPC available. It is my theory (no proof, don't you love it) that these dot neck Vulcans were made later than the block inlay Vulcans of the 70's, and used up surplus Ultima electronics and I believe these were the last of the MPC's produced, the swan song of the module era. These aren't rare, but they are an interesting chapter in the MPC saga.

You can't see it in the ad above because ol' Dickey is covering up the bottom of the guitar with his arm, but all the dot neck Vulcans (and Ultimas which they share the same electronics) have the small MPC switches. I can't see the switches good enough in those pictures, some glare, but it is/was not uncommon for one of the three switches to have a different finish color on the X250s, X270s and Ultimas.

So is this one clean enough for you, I know you're a picky guy (wink). I haven't played one of these late vulcans, so I don't know how thin or fat the neck profile is. If I was a betting man, I'd say that this guitar is more like an Endorser than the earlier Block Inlay Vulcans of the 70's. This is one of the reasons that internet purchases are such a junk shoot. You really don't know the exact condition or feel of the instrument until its in your hands. As trivia, you just don't see many MPC's without the foil tag, so we know the exact month of production (very late), quite possibly the last batch of MPC's ever made. Take the plunge man (don't listen to me, look what a mess I made this year), Mike.

Congratulations on another fine addition to your collection. This is a very nice looking Axe and I like the color. I prefer the larger MOP inlays but the dot inlays are cool and not seen as much on the MPC models. Waiting patiently for all the details.
