I've got a 1998 Toyota Tercel I'd like to get $8000.00 for...I'll be floored if that guy even gets a nibble at that price!

I made him an offer and he came back with a counter at 1100.00. I guess this one will have to run through a couple auction cycles before he gets a bit more reasonable. They are fine guitars and I would like to have another...in natural.

8) I agree it is a very nice example of the X810 and very much overpriced. It won't take very long for him to figure that out if he gets enough offers at a lower price and no buyers.

Wow I never would have guess that but I guess someone out there wants in in their collection pretty bad. I would like to have one of these and it is on my wish list but not for that much. Hope it found a good home.

Some yahoo has an X-410 "LAWSUIT" model on the Bay.
So, I emailed him asking exactly when Electra had been "sued" and what that had to do with the price he was asking for the guitar. I also noticed a crack at the neck joint and asked for photos of the back and the serial number.

His response was less than literate saying that he "wasn't jumping threw hoops" (sic) for me and some other nonsense.

So, he knows he's misrepresenting the product and refuses to answer any questions about it.

Too bad... of course, I reported the a**hole...

He makes it sound like a Alvin Bishop signiture model. Joe's vintage guitar ripoff's is off my list dealers i'll buy from.

He's had that for sale for quite a while. I don't know why he insists on calling it a Bishop style guitar....there's nothing to be ashamed of about a Jazz Strad. I made him an offer months ago and he came back with a 900.00 counteroffer. So, he is a bit negotiable if someone is interested at that price. I would like to have it myself because of the early headstock.

Stores have expenses and overhead so they almost have to charge more for stuff to keep the 'lights on'. It could be argued that they can 'afford' to sit on things longer and wait for that desperate buyer. The lesson here is that it's (almost) always cheaper to deal with individuals than stores, and there are still deals to be had out there on Craigs List if you can talk the seller into shipping the item. The bad news about long distance deals is you really don't know how the guitar plays or is set up until you get it in your hands, so its often a leap of faith with CL or eBay.

There's a dealer out there with a pretty nice 2248wc Tele, but they want $400 for it, and we know that those typically go for $175 - $275 depending on shape. This phenomenon is really to be expected with music stores, and probably won't go away anytime soon.
