A lot of us that have had to replace a pickup for one reason or another have resorted to Seymour Duncans. Lets face it, they make pretty good stuff. Well, I always hated to see that "Seymour Duncan" or even the dreaded "Duncan Designed" advertising logo on the top of their pickups (they may sound fine, but I feel they scream "I have a cheap duncan wanna-be in this guitar"). I think am overdoing it a bit, but you all understand this. It isn't just Duncan either, Dimarzio does it sometimes, and I have seen plenty of other recent instruments with "Custom Alnico" on the tops of the black pickup bobbins or on the tops of strat pickup covers. Fender does it, Ibanez does it, Dean does it, Rockfield does it, I have seen Washburns with Egnator on their pickups. While some people like it, I generally don't. I also don't want to scratch them puppies off either and leave the plastic all dull and looking all ugly in one little spot. I just ran into this and I knew their had to be someone that had an easy effective way to remove those that left the pickup looking new.

I did a search on line and found some people are using brasso, silver polish, or a very mild polish and they say it works great and still looks great afterwards. Hmmm, I had some silver polish handy and it worked GREAT. Those pesky logos are gone, but the pickup still looks great.

Just another dumb tip that I am not sure anyone here will use. But if you have to resort to a duncan or dimarzio to replace your MMK, or have any other pesky "logo" pickup you can take care of it right away and painlessly so that it can match the other pickups or you won't feel like you are playing a little "billboard". I expect it will work on pick guards or other plastic that has things written on it that you don't want. I would test it first just to be certain, but it sure worked good for me. I don't know who to give the credit, but thank you. I am so easily entertained!

Thanks for the tip. I love the duncans and they sound very nice but I also don't care to advertise and would like the logo removed also. I am a very steady one when it comes to brand name sI like but I would rather have someone ask what pickup it is at least then I know they were listening. Thanks

Here's a slick way to hide the advertising on your exposed bobins:

This is way off the chart;

If you're in to anything like this:

Do a Search for "Tree of Life" -

The jury is still out .............

RCSBlues :-?

I have to wonder:

Will it hold up?

Will it stay put?

Can you feel it when you play it?

It looks better than I thought it would in the pictures.

Thanks for the tip! I love my DiMarzios loud and proud, but the obvious name on thehot rails in my Phoenix is embarassing. It just doesn't match and it bugs me.
