Hi Everyone! all my other Electra's have 7 digit serial NO. My new 2245 only has 5. 30021 It has the wave head stock. The pickups look like the ones in the index of model's. but has 180805 stamped on the back of them. what year could it be? everything I read says it should be 6 or 7 digit;s? it plays and sounds AWSOME! thanx Tim

My X340 and X330 MPC's were bought new in the late 70's;

Each one has a 5 digit serial number on a chrome foil sticker on the back of the headstock - each serial number starts with a "1";

Does that mean its not a matsumoku?

None of the Les Paul shaped (or any of the "copy" shaped) series of guitars are Matsumoku. They are either Kasuga or Terada (if I remember correctly from what Tom on the forum said - and he was the key guitar guy there). But they still are very fine Japanese-made guitars - and very good representation of the quality from that era. Most of the Matsumokus were made later - probably in the 80s.

Don't worry, until recently I used to think some of those were Matsumoku too. Don't get hung up over it - they are fine guitars. Most people still get it wrong. But now that I know better I won't.

Thanks Thorny I'm 100% happy with the guitar. I guess the 3 in the SS. throug me off. I used A LP. copy in one of my bands in the 70's. I thread a Oshkosh B'gosh bandana under the strings by the the tuners to hide the electra logo. So everybody thought it was A gibson now i'd hide the gibson logo.If i still owned one. I hate it when my iast brain sell wanders. so whatever factory made this guitar my bandana's off to you! Tim
