Hello Masters of the Electra,
I am new to the forum, and fairly new to Electras having just picked up 4 fairly recently...some of which you may have owned at one time. (X-810, SG double solid, X-350, Flying Wedge)

Unfortunately, upon receipt and firing up of the X350 (pic at the bottom), all I got was I a pantload of crackle and noise...great way to kill the excitement of my purchase. Anyslow...

I opened the cover(s) to find - floating around - what appears to be an 1/8" jack inline connected to the (-) 1/4" output. The (+) red wire has detached from its soldering point but is coming from connection (b) of the module bay 1 - the same point which 9V(+) battery is soldered to.

If I solder it back on, can I find use for this feature? And which point of the 1/8" do I solder it back to? Or just take it out completely?

I'm not sure what makes sense or what photos to include, so please let me know what will help. I want to get this one a rockin!! I am not ashamed to admit this excercise is new to me. :) But what shall I do?

I was hoping you would get help from a real expert. Take my advise with knowledge of my modest abilities with electronics.

It looks like the 1/8" jack is wired to the stereo part of the jack and thus would have control over the power circuit. It could have been used to power LED's or possibly for an effect kill switch. Unless you want to mess with something like that I would get rid of it.

I was wondering if it was a jack for an external 9volt power source..? Although, I don't know why you would want to run a 2nd cable to your guitar, unless you were really sick of changing batteries. I agree that maybe you should try to remove it. Best of luck, and I hope the rest of the electronics haven't been compromised.

Putting led in and on guitars has become a fashion in some circles. Not my taste though.

I agree with the others. We have excellent wiring diagrams on the electra guitar page. If you want the guitar back to stock and operating it the way it should be then remove the extra junk. The stereo guitar cord jack is made to operate like a normal one, with the exception the stereo part switches the ground wire to ground when a regular guitar cable is put in there.

I think you can get the rest from the diagrams. They may be in the old section of the board. But they are easy enough to follow. If not, if the parts are there I can fix it. If you have another one you can look off of that one too. I have only seen two variations of the wiring.

BTW - NICE guitar. I am not sure about that bridge being stock - it looks like a 70s schaller harmonica bridge. But if you like it I would not worry. It could be stock, but I haven't seen one with one. The dimarzio super distortion isn't stock either (I could be something else that looks like a dimarzio), but you find a lot of them in these guitars from that era. They sound great in them.
