A girl I went to high school with (and whom I reconnected on facebook with a few years ago) saw me playing at my church this weekend. I was playing my Outlaw. She sent me a message today saying that her husband saw the guitar too and commented that he had one just like that. Turns out it was purchased(brand new) in 1979 or 1980. She says it's been under there bed for a long time. I told her that I was interested and she said he would be happy to sell it. More details to follow. He says it's in NM shape. They sent me a couple of pics too (see below). I am hoping we can work something out. I will post again if things progress.

Also, if it does progress in the right direction, I will most likely be selling my Outlaw and case to help defray the cost. Again, more details to follow.

mmm Outlaws (in best Homer Simpson voice). I've never played one - but I sure do like the looks. I hear there's a fair number of people that are un-impressed by either the way they play or the way they sound. Are they big, fat, chunky, juicy, necks or does it all come down to "not what I expected" ?

@Jead: I bought my Outlaw a while back having never played one before (but loved the looks). When I got it, two things were immediately a problem. The action was horrible and I had it adjusted twice before replacing the nut entirely (and then it was just fine). More of a problem to me were the stock 50k pots which sounded really weak to me no matter what I did. I had them replaced with 500k and now it sounds great (and noticeably brighter). Before I conquered those obstacles I was very close to selling it. Now I just love it. It's a pleasure to play. It's a beefy guitar. Opinions vary on the Outlaw but for me it's the standout model. The look of it either grabs you or you think it's ugly. I haven't run into too many people that are middle of the road.

Well, the owner of this guitar was kind enough to let me stop over and play it/check it out. The good news is that even with ancient strings it was a real player. Cosmetically its a solid 8 with only minor wear. The bad news is that the rotary switch has come loose. It rotates and clicks and the wiring is still sound-all 5 positions work fine but something has come loose. My guess is that it should be an easy fix. Anyone have this particular problem? Any thoughts on what is loose? I am still mulling it over. I love my outlaw but i like the looks of this one a little better. What to do, what to do.

The 5 way switch can be tightened up by removing the selector switch knob from the top with an allen wrench. Once it it removed you will see a nut there much like the input jack nut. It is most likely loose and that should fix it right up. Be carefull not to overtighten it as it will crack the surface very easily. Good Luck.

Thanks mortarman120gang11c! And also thanks to mcbrat who gave me some helpful info as well.
Well I made an offer yesterday but it has not been replied to yet. We'll see.
In the meantime, I have been offered another Electra by a guy I happened to run into at the guitar repair shop I frequent. He saw my Invicta in hand and asked if I was an "Electra" guy. I said I was. He then tells me he has one he was thinking of selling. He emailed me pics today. Looks like a Vulcan. However, it looks like it has a coil tap switch. I wonder if that was added later or if that was stock. I haven't investigated that yet.
Here it is:

Well, the Outlaw deal fell through. Bummer- but there's always another one out there. Now I am trying to decide if I want the Vulcan X950.
I am still looking for an Outlaw X710. Willing to trade my X720.
Anyone want a Moog Murf? I am selling one on CL right now for $279 and would be open to trading for an Electra.
