somehow, I turned the push pull pot knob further than it's supposed to go, something came loose, and the push pull action is now extremely difficult to initiate...it takes a hefty amount of force just to pull out the neck pickup knob to get the 'fat' sound...I am explaining it as good as I can...any idea what actually happened?

Cant tell you what happened, but I can tell you that is fairely easy to replace the pot. You local music store should have a suitable replacement in stock. They would probably put it in for you (for a fee of course) if your not comfortable doing it yourself.

Sounds like you pushed the pot past the stop and jammed it. When you backed it off you may have bent the shaft a bit. Like Robot DR says it is a fairly easy fix. SewMac and all parts are also good sources if you want to do it your self. Just make a little diagram of the wires and the contacts before you start and it is pretty simple.
