I know I'm late replying to this thread but congratulations. Have you used this much? Have you tinkered with creating any pickups? I've always thought that this was a neat part of guitar building. I was reading a thread not so long ago about PAFs where the guy said the reason they could not be reproduced is because the wire they used back then is no longer available (leaded wire).

I will start by saying I am a pickup winding newbie, but I would say that is somewhat true. The enameled wire is hard to come by and the guages you get it in and the material is not consistent. Most of it is poly covered. Still, I would think if you get the diameters correct (wire and coating material) and the insulation factors is sufficiently similar and purity of the copper similar. But again, I am just making assumptions and have no experience to back it up. I have some poly covered wire to play with, but haven't done much yet. Too busy with work.
