Is an OFR a direct fit replacement for the later LFR bridges found on Westone HSS superstrats?

Short answer is nope; not even roughly!! There's a couple of lads have done it at the Westone forum and it wasn't as simple as it seemed to be at the start.... there's a certain amount of routing involved, and the posts are a different width and there was a problem with the scale length as well, from memory.

What Westone do you have and what's the problem with the OEM Bendmaster??

I thought there would be issues. The main thing I dislike about these stock trems is the lack of a brass sustain block. It's often a good upgrade, but isn't an option on some of these non-standard trems. I haven't bought the guitar in the pic I posted, but have been interested in one for a few months now.

I've got Westones with all of the Bendmaster bridges that were readily available and they're fine, really! The Deluxe - which is the one you're looking at there - is no better or worse than a FR except that it is single locking; it doesn't lock at the bridge. Once it's all set up properly it is quite capable of dive bombing or doing whatever you want to do with it and returning to tune. The FT is an easier bridge to live with but I've got 4 guitars with the Deluxe and like 'em lots!

One of the lads on the Westone forums made a brass sustain block for one of his and reckons it was "the go!" but I'm not sure that you'd be able to hear the subtleties therein at anything approaching stage volume!!

Can you link to the guitar in question, or at least tell me what it is??

Brass is great for adding bass to shrill high notes.

That looks to be some sort of Spectrum Series II but it's been mucked about with and is missing the wang bar, the stringlocks - I'll just bet the stringlock base is stripped! - , the MMK45 h/b is missing, the neckplate is on upside down and my eyes tell me that the machine heads don't line up straight! I wonder what horrors this has seen...

Still, for 66 bux it is entirely redeemable if you're that way inclined as it does have it's OEM knobs, and looks to be in one piece....



... isn't that what the tone knob and /or EQ is for??!
