Mis-identified as a 2238, but it looks like everything is there. It's too bad that it got gutted, but it may have been necessary to get the 2nd paintjob off. Truth be told, the original electronics are pretty unremarkable on these early 70's models, so this might be a good candidate for upgrading. What do you say Joe, up for another 'Rescue'? Cheers, Mike.

Oh man, this always happpens-I just snagged the 2253wc off the bay, rescue bound :D then I see your post-Doh!(as Homer would say!)
I contacted the seller, would not put a buy it now on the tele-so I have a bid in..low,but a bid none the less. Hope it holds out,I miss the thinline I had-small neck, but really a great player.
The 2253wc I bought is rough, but I noticed the body has really tight, straight grain-unusual for most. Finish is trashed,so a stripdown is in order(poly-ugh! :toopid)what do you fellas think? Back to original finish? Tru oil,let it breath better? What about a 3 tone sunburst? I have an airbrush setup I've been dyin to try-don't think Electra ever had a sunburst on the tele's.
Joe

Upon further examination it looks like the pickguard is missing. Not a biggie, but interested buyers may want to contact the seller and get confirmation.

I personally like the stained look, has some color but you can still see the wood grain too. However, its your baby now, so go crazy and put a sunburst on there! Cheers, Mike.

this one looks like it was just taken back to the original finish that has lots of signs of use. pickguard missing is okay for me... I just hope I win it :)

Congrats mcbrat, see you got it
I hope it arrives in better shape than the 2253wc I got (wheres that bad ebay deal thread?)yesterday...0% frets left, nut trashed, logo half gone and redone with magic marker, non original pickups held together with duct tape,3 functional tuners, etc. :o
Might have an original hourglass bridge if you need it
Joe

Congrats McB, tell us how she looks when she shows up. Sorry to hear about the 2253 Joe, is it salvageable? Is the woodgrain decent? Have you decided what you're going to do with the finish? I was this close to biting on that 2270 of yours, I regret it now, especially seeing that the market seems to be picking up... ah well, there'll be others, right? Mike.

Hey Mike,I think I can bring her back somewhat-will be far from stock but at least not in a trash can. I've got a luthier buddy who will refret the neck tomorrow,I've got the poly off and restained as close to original as possible, had lots of chips, gouges.
I'm going to put a covered mmk45 in the neck, got a reissue '62 tele Fender pickup for the bridge-should be nasty :eek2:
No idea what to do about the lost logo, though I have never cared for that 70's mod lettering :barf: Maybe a small Electra peace logo?
Joe

That would be great McBrat, the Electra inverted peace logo about quarter size would be perfect :D . Let me know what you need to do it,or parts if you would rather.
Joe

got box 1 of 2 today. got the body and the pickguard (not shown in auction...) :D

the paint on the back is fine. the front might just be able to be fine sanded and buffed back to a gloss on the poly... I'm thinkinig this one needs to go back together as a "relic" with fresh wiring and pots though....

box 2 came today

looks like this should be a fun put-back-together after I do something with the finish on the front of the body...

leaf truss rod cover was not there just as in the pictures, however the pick guard is there...
anybody know how close a Fender replacement pg is to the same size (one cut for a hb of course)? I want to put a black pg on it....
