New to the forum. I have a MPC X330 S/N13322 that has been in the family since new. It was purchased either in 78 or 79 in Pa before I moved to Az in 80. It has the brass nut on the fretboard. Does anyone know whether it was made in Japan or Korea and perhaps the year from the S/N?
Thanks,

Serial numbers on Electra's are still something of a mystery. It's very difficult to date by the numbers. You can however rely on the fact that it was made in Japan. Welcome to the forums.

Welcome to the forums. It is certainly a Japanese built guitar no question there. Year is another story. If it has the wave style headstock it is after 1977 but it is hard to pin down exact year. Sometime there is a date on the white cloth strip in the MPC battery compartment that can lend a clue. Brass nut or plastic nut can also aide in determining year of manufacture so any pics would be a big help. Welcome to the forums.

As soon as I can figure out how to put pics in my messages I will post some pics. The design cut is the wave and it has the brass nut. I just checked the cloth in the Module panel and it did say 78. Thanks for that advice, I can't believe it. All these years I have wondered what year and it turns out it was stamped on the white cloth. No Sherlock Holmes on this end!

MPC X340 – SN 11587 purchased in 1977 and

MPC X330 – SN 11193 – apparently an earlier 1977 model –

Although purchased new in 1979 – numbers are 394 apart.

I bought from a local store who was not selling that many Electras - even though thay had many in stock;

Some did hang on display for quite a while and got pretty dusty;

I remember an X910 and many Outlaws that got away;

At the time there were so many and there was so little money ..............

My Bridge supermagnaflux is w/w instead of Zebra. Unfortunately I have no serial no. on either the headstock or the pulltabs. :lol:
