I agree that this is indeed a nice Bass but agree that the price is way beyond the norm for these type Bass guitars. I would balk at that price even if it were indeed a Hofner. Nice Bass but I do not think it will sell unless it sells at the make offer price.

well, it's got the pcm style logo plate, however, we had a gentleman on the board a few years back who had an Electra Branded beatle bass with this same logo plate that he bought in 1968 from a SLM rep....

it doesn't look like this one has any model markings on it...

but I'll let you know if I find anything...

the earliest catalogs we have is basically a '73 but we know for sure there were other models prior that weren't in the catalogs...

both DA copy versions. 2246 and 2255
the EB2 bass copy
the early tele/p bass copy
early p bass copy
the beatle bass copy

no model number visible... the action is horrible high, but the neck is dead straight... either needs a good sized neck shim, or a shortening of the bridge....

build quality is not as high as the EB2 copy I have, but it's still pretty decent... better than all the PCM J-bass copies I've seen....

more later, with pics...

just comparing it to the pics of the Apollo bass this thread was started for...
The Electra has a very good copy of the mostly rosewood Hofner bridge.
Bodies and necks look pretty much identical, other than the control plate, where again, the Electra is a dead on copy of the Hofner.

The Apollo has the same burst finish on the neck, where the Electra is just a natural finish on the mohagany neck.

The wave headstock on both is a direct copy of the Hofner bass as well...

The Electra has what appears to be brass (or at least some form of gold colored metal) pickup rings, painted black... as it's chipping off the one used as a thumb rest....
