This is a SG model that needs some work. Do not know what the reserve is but is a workable restoration project. Has the usual finish crack at the neck joint and nicks and dings but would be a good players guitar when done. Check it out. Maybe it will go low. Good Luck :look: :look:

I couldn't help myself :eek2: . I'm supposed to be selling not buying. Anyone know where a dork like me can come up with tuners and a control cavity cover? Somehow this went from Youngstown, OH to Cali and now to NJ.

I think the tuners were supposed to be keystones. The seller said the tuners are shot and they appear to be replacements anyway so I may have to find a set of keystones. It'd be nice if I could come up with the offset mounting screw style but a quick search came up empty. I'll probably have to make a control cavity cover so if someone out there with a 2259 would be kind enough to trace me out a template that would be awesome. I'm kind of kicking myself for making what I thought was a low ball offer. I have no projects right now so this one may get the full treatment - strip/re-finish etc. Looks like it could use it anyway.

So give me a shout with any 2259 tips or a control template. Can anyone confirm the tuners are not original??? Thanks

Those are very close to the original tuners and may be original. I have an older PCM model and the tuners are very close but hard to tell with the SG models as all have small variations. Here are the pics of my SG for your comparison.

I am currently out of town so I am not able to get you a rear cover template or measurements. I will be home next friday so if no one else has gotten one by then I will be glad to get one to you.Hope this helps.

Thank you mortarman. The tuners do look to be period correct for an older 2259. Probably not for a wave headstock though. With so many variations, I may never know. If they are shot, I'll probably go for a Kluson style keystone. Looks like I get to practice my rarely used binding skills too. Hopefully theneck binding is OK - the headstock will definitely need some attention.

I've also noticed that the bigsby knockoff looks slightly different from any other 2259 picture I've seen. Again, with the variations. :)

I think that the Sg models had more variations in manufacturing than most any other Electra model. It seems that they were always evolving in the production process from early laminated models like mine to the later wave headstock solid models with bigsby, without bigsby, full pickguard, partial pickguard, who klnows as I guess the parts were all sourced out or they used whatever parts they had from the various manufacturers at the time it was built. I have seen versions with the custom logo on the TRC and the Klusion Gibson style Ivory tuners as well so whatever you find should work well on this one. Good luck and keep us posted while it is in progress.

I see what's going on with the tuners on this axe - There are 2 sets of Bass side tuners - unbelievable. I'm definitely going to have to change that. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for some double ring keystones that don't break the bank.
