Has there ever been discussion regarding setting up an Electra Guitar wiki on this site?

For example, I'm going to do a re-fret on my 2275, wouldn't it be cool if there was a page (on this site) for the 2275's that had all the specs such as the neck raduis, the fret size, the hole size for the tuners, string spacing, etc.

I don't have a clue what it takes, just thinking out loud. Wouldn't it be cool though, even if if was just a spreadsheet, that had all the critical technical info? I don't know how much of the technical info is readily available though.

Sounds like a good companion book to go with Jacks new book.

That would be real valuable information to have. I wonder if SLM has some of that info and would be willing to make it available. Anyone have an in with SLM?

The problem with 'specifications' is that many (MANY) Electras were being made by multiple manufacturers, especially before 1976 like your Strat, so those specs may not hold true for all the different variations of a single model.

By the late 70's, the SLM line becomes much more standardized, and some kind of Data Sheet would probably be fairly straight forward (and accurate) for those models.

For example, I know my 2238 (tele) is 24.5 inch scale, but other owners swear theirs are 25.75 inch scale... so from year to year, factory to factory things changed. It's a real quagmire man.

When I'm actually ready to put this book to bed (and I know I am WAY late, I didn't know how much time being a father would take, ha ha) I am going to try to collect any and all specs.

If you can attend this years electrafest we should have a prime opportunity to get the needed specs and photos. If you can't make it then send me a list of the data and photos you would like and we should be able to get it while we have a few of the models around for inspection. It looks as though we should meet and or exceed the 100 instrument mark thus far for certain. :hyper: :hyper:

I didn't even think about the obvious, good point about the different suppliers.

So the "dream ticket" would be to have an experienced luthier and a statistician to go to Arthur's Awesome Electrafest with all the right tools and gauges to measure and record all the particulars. OK, so it sounds good on paper, or internet anyway.

I can't even squirrel away the time to take my one Electra to go next month  It looks to be an awesome get together. Maybe next year TN???
