Hello all,

I traded an old working Tele knock off to my niece's hubby for a hard shell case, for my Strat, and this guitar. It had a clear coat with glitter sprayed on it...UGH!!! Anyway, he said he was told by the guy he got it from it was a 1971 Hondo. I took the guitar apart and took all the glitter junk off. While apart, I found no names or numbers stamped anywhere...it did have a little Fender logo decal on the head stock, but I removed that.

Can someone help out and possibly tell me what I have here? (PS, check out the neck-around the 6th & 7th frets...part of an awesome knot is there).

I'd bet '81 not '71. I don't think a early 70's Strat knock off would have the string through arrangement.

That neck looks like it is ash, not maple. Is it stable?

The frets are shot!, but the neck seems super straight. I'm going to take it to a friend and see much to make it playable, otherwise, I'll just use it as a slide...or at least try...LOL
