Whoa, that's a beaut! Those pickups sound great and are positioned perfectly on those pickguard version X640's, on the non-pickguard version they put the pickups too close to the bridge (in my humble opinion). Is that thumb rest original?? Congratulations, Mike.

Thanks guys. I bought that bass new on April 3rd 1982, paid $390.00, I still have the receipt. I sold it to a guy I new and he had it for several years, when I found out that he was getting married and needed money I called him and asked if he would sell it back and he did. I regreted every minute I was without it. On a sad note it does't look as good as it does in the pic, he beat it up pretty good. At least I got it back.
I put the thumb rest on it soon after I bought it.
