Not the most horrible color scheme I've ever seen...

What model is this? Is that a modded output jack?

I bought this one for $86.05. Just got it in the mail this week. From the pics and comparing it to the pics on the Electra website, I narrowed it down to an X165 because event though the auction pics didn't show it well, it has the tremolo bridge. Yes, I think the Output Jack is modified. This is going to take a lot of TLC to get it in shape. All the screws are rusted/corroded. One pot is there but no idea if its an original and the rest of the wiring is a mess. All the electronics covers are missing. And it was originally not black and blue. At one time someone removed the bridge, truss cover and pickup bezels and painted them metallic blue with either fingernail polish or enamel model paint. Very rough to the touch. That should be fun to get off there! The nut is made from a toothpick! haha The body and neck and head appear to be in good shape as do the tuners. Time will tell on the pickups. So I think you will probably see a lot of me on the parts forum! This is my first Electra. I'm not a player. Just like building/rebuilding guitars. This will join my other projects including a Fender Strat, Gibson ES 335, Gibson Les Paul Jr and cigar box guitar.

Nice score! Good luck Wander! Believe it or not, the paint isn't as bad as the x140 I'm working on. I have a thread in the Repair and Restoration forum on this. Welcome to the board.

I use Klean Strip Strip-X Stripper to remove paint -- I've even used it on a 1962 Brown Deluxe amp that someone spray-painted black and it didn't damage the tolex - of course test in an inconspicuous spot !! Of course it's going to strip all the paint of guitar bodies, but should work fine on metal parts that have been painted....

Yes that's the stripper I used. It worked pretty well, especially after getting the poly layer off.

Keep us posted on the progress and thanks for keeping this one out of the firewood pile. Always good to see another Electra restored.

Awesome guys, thanks for the advice. I was bidding in the auction for the cream colored Electra bass as well but just got the notification it went for a little over $100. I did manage to score a body for a Gibson SG this morning though. The X165 is my prime focus at the moment though. Is there any hope to get those pull-switches for coil tap and phase reverse working again? Oh and we were looking it over last night and you can see clearly where the output jack was modified and badly I might add with a drill and a saw. Pretty sure the original color was black though so at least I don't have that to deal with.
