Went to the Detroit guitar show this weekend and only saw one Electra, a Dan Armstrong copy. It had a replaced bridge/tailpiece and the electronics had been modified. Not sure what they did, but there was a patched area in the pickguard and a couple extra switches installed.

Asking price: $699

Yeah, I was there also. Guitar shows sure have gone downhill in the last ten years. There was a significant lack of any Japanese guitars there. I suppose if you only have so much table space you're going to display all the overpriced semi-vintage American guitars in your inventory though. $5000 for a 70's Tele... really? If I had 5K I'm not sure I'd spend it at a Guitar show booth. Even the stomp boxes were overpriced.

I guess these vendors weren't really interested in moving stuff, at least that I could see. I spent about an hour there, didn't pick up one guitar and left totally underwhelmed. My guitar tech clued me in a long time ago that I) any really stellar stuff doesn't get taken to the show and II) any decent items usually get snagged by other dealers before the doors open.

I guess I was just bored enough and optimistic enough to think that this one may be different... but alas, this was one of the worst guitar shows I've ever been to. Spent two hours in the car and ten bucks to get in to see a bunch of overpriced American stuff. I did hear some people talking about how "Kid Rock may show up.." Dream on you clueless greedy turds... Mike.

I was trying to make it to our Detroit show this year but I'm glad I was stuck at home watching my 2 year old boy after reading this. I was at the first Detroit show back at the State Fairgrounds and back then you could get some deals. I went once again about 1999 or 2000 to find a bridge for a Floyd Rose Ibanez I was given, but the show had already gone downhill at that point. I remember Japanese buyers picking up 100's of guitars to send over there back at the first show. They really drove the market up for those semi and vintage guitars.
