Just picked up an X910 great shape, only had to change one of the pickups, put in a 70's Gibson Humbucker, only have it wired for 3 different sounds ,like a Gibson. Came with a chipboard case. The 2 modules, Octave and Power Overdrive only work intermittently, tried spraying with contact cleaner to no avail.I'll post a pic as soon as I figure out how to.

Congrats on the X910 as that is a hard to find model. You may want to use a pencil eraser to clean the edge connectors on the MPC modules as that may take care of the problem. Also check the 9 volt battery connections. Would be great to see some photos. Welcome and congrats on the score

Welcome - You MUST post pictures! Truthfully, your good fortune makes me jealous and despondent. I hate you. OK I'm over it now, had to get it out of my system..... Seriously, good for you. I consider the X910 to be one of the harder to find models along with the X120 Leslie, Roberts Concert Pro and the Flying Wedge. A very nice find! And I don't really hate you - I am jealous though. :)

I too have trouble posting pictures. What I do is upload to photobucket and then copy and paste the photobucket img links into a post here.

The guitar looks great too BTW.

Posting here can be a little tricky sometimes. If you like you can send me the pics via e-mail and I will post them for you or you can just do as with this one in a link to photobucket. Great looking X910. Alas I will find one one of these days. If you wish to send the pics send them here mortarman120gang@yahoo.com Enjoy this one, they are great players.

Jimmya -

I posted the image for you:

Image

Hint -

1. Retrieve (copy) the URL for the picture you want to display

2. Select "Img" from the legend above at the Forum when doing a reply or new subject -
displays 2 "img/img" enclosed in brackets.

3. Insert the picture URL right in the middle of the 2 "img/img" - between the inner brackets.

Awesome! A nice example of possibly the rarest of the MPC models.

Any damage to the neck or headstock around the nut area? These are known to be somewhat delicate.

Welcome Aboard, is this your first Electra? You hit a home run there, nice stripes!

There are five way wiring diagrams in the restoration forum, and as far as the MPC boxes go, do some troubleshooting like trying the modules in different sockets, etc. Every Octave box I've ever played has been pretty primitive sounding, and the power overdrive is generally considered under powered and NOISY. Do you have a Phase Shifter yet? Those are pretty common and Nice sounding. Also, the battery terminals get nasty after 30 years. There is going to be a Pop when you flick either of those Batwing switches, Deoxit may help a little, but the circuit will pop when engaged.

We need closeups! Mike.

Thanks for all the help with the pix...I'll shoot closeups and post soon..or send 'm over if I still can't figure out how to. The neck is in good shape ,only some finish cracks. There's a chip under the front point on the body but other than that its pretty un-scarred.
Its my first Electra....love the tone of the treble pickup by itself.....I'd never seen one of these before...I understand these are made in the same factory and time as the Ibanez lawsuit models.

I posted some closeups at http://s1141.photobucket.com/albums/n592/jimmya11/

Is it so these were made in the same factory as the Ibanez lawsuit explorers?

Looks to be in nice condition. These are great guitars but are very difficult to locate in any condition. Congrats.

Hi Jim I'm new to Electras and to the forum as well. Sweet looking axe there.

Posting the pics is simple. Just go here to your album in a separate tab or window.
http://s1141.photobucket.com/albums/n592/jimmya11/

Move your cursor over any pic and a drop down menu will appear. Bring the cursor down to IMG Code and left click. The addy bar should flash "copied". Then come back to your thread and right click and paste.
