I'm puzzled by both pickup cavities. I have no idea what the purpose of the screw is - seems a little too far down the body to be for neck reinforcement. It appears that the tongue the screw is in is actually part of the neck or perhps it's a stop piece for determining where the neck is set during construction.
No idea about the 58 in the bridge cavity either. The trans red is over the top of that too so I'd guess the number was there before refin.

when gluing in the set neck, they use the screw to help hold it in place...

Not certain what the number stands for, but it is common on Electra's from this vintage. You can see there is no stain or anything in the cavity of my X250.

on my Westone Concord bass body, it has a 62 in the neck pocket, and it's the width of the neck that fits the pocket... I wonder if that number is similar across some of the other members guitars...?

The end of the neck measures 54.5 mm - so who knows what it means. I thiught it might have something to do with the s/n as it starts with 5 after 00's and ends in 8. That's kind of a stretch I think though.

MMK 53's huh? Very nice. Those were standard on a 260 or you swapped them in?

Not to hijack the thread, the 53's are in my X250 Powered Invicta (or EQ), note the four knobs in a row. I've also got 53's in two of my Endorsers. As far as I know that's how they all left the Factory, I certainly didn't change them. To this day, I don't know what the difference between the MMK45's and MMK53's are. Probably magnet composition or number of windings. There is also a MMK61 I've seen in some SemiHollows.

I know Jead's asked about the difference between Magnaflux and Super Magnaflux pickups, and who knows the real story. Basically, I chalk it up to Marketing hype. All the different companies had pet names for the same pickups. The older humbuckers that I own have a five digit serial number on them, that's what I would call a Magnaflux, and I would assume the MMK's are the Super Magnaflux... However, I'm pretty sure that they advertised the MPC's having Super Magnafluxes, and most of mine are those serialized puppies.

Would love to have Tom Presley clarify the pickup controversy!!! Mike.
