Here's a Maple Pro that has had the headstock completely ruined in an ill fated attempt to cover up its heritage... What a shame, I can't look at it any longer, Mike.

Mike...I think that's a skinned ELvin. I see sanding marks throughout in the pics and a definate lack of luster. The trapeze setup is just like the EB I have, and the top binding appears to be 4-ply as opposed to the 5-ply of the MP.

:mad2: Man this is bad for certain. I think I agree as to the fact that it may have been an Elvin at one point in time. The finish looks like a Maple Pro but if so it is more than a bit dull for certain. I hope that there is a good luthier out there that can save this one. What a shame to see such beauty butchered like this. I do not think they will have much luck at that price but you never know.

It sure doesn't look like curly maple....... I'm thinking about this one. I have an urge to rebuild that headstock with a biscuit joiner and see what can be done with the finish. As usual, the pictures leave a lot to be desired.... still it is an Electra semi. I may stock up on cup o noodles just in case.

Its 5 ply (wbwbw) binding on what's left of the headstock - just like my Elvin. I guess that proves nothing since the MP and EB are really the same guitar with different finishes. I have a little voice in my head telling me to step away from this. There's just not enough evidence for me to see and say without doubt that it's a MP. I'm going to move on.

In this case? I'd say bad drugs.

I've been getting a lot of REALLY lowball offers lately -- but ELEVEN !! Surely he doesn't think it's worth more than 300 or so in that condition !!

I made what I thought was a very reasonable offer and it was automatically declined. Glad it was too - I can't exactly figure out what's going on there with the finish but it doesn't seem right.
