Greetings, lovers of all things Electra.
You guys (and Gals?) have a very tight knit group and your dedication to the brand is admirable. After lurking and delving deep into this sight I am amazed at the amount of knowledge and info sharing here.It is similar to the guys over at the Peavey T-60 site and the "All things Peavey" site I frequent. That being said,I will tell my story.
Awhile back, I walked into my favorite pawn/resale store and went straight to the music section to peruse anything new. There on a stand was a weird looking axe. I looked it over without touching it,then went back for one last look after everything else. This thing is solid! Hm... neck through design,Oddball pups, all kind of switches and knobs.Grover bullseye tuners! Surely someone added those.Thick neck, bound rosewood board with cheezy bowtie inlays, in tune and some playing wear.Somebody had some love for this thing."Electra" with "MPC" on the trc. Vaguely familiar, didn't they get sued?Comes with HSC. "Yo, Marvin, how much out the door for this thing and does it work?"
"You know it does and what's the tag say?"
"$xxx.xx and I don't know if it works"
"Knock $50 off and bring it back if it don't"
I take it home, wipe most of the scudge off it,find this trap door thingy on the back, open it and "what the?" looks like commodore64 in here! In my best Ahnold voice, "What the *#&^ are you?" Sticker on the headstock gives me a model number and Google leads me here. Seems I found a Outlaw in fair shape, I plug it straight into a JC120 and whoa! After installing a 9v, double whoa! That is a good whoa.
Seems to have infinite sound variations and the pfasor nails the intro to 10cc's 'Love hurts'
Confession time: I can't seem to bond with it.The wife said it looks like a spud with a guitar neck.I agreed. I have stubby fingers and am used to a T-60 neck etc. It may be on the market. Just saying.

I love my Outlaw, but it seems ya love em or not. They have a very unique shape and feel - an acquired taste. Having said that don't judge all Electras on one guitar, thay made so many beautiful and great playing guitars, i'm sure you could find one you love.

Welcome to the forums. The Outlaw models are quality built and solid instruments but as already stated they seem to fall into a simple catagory(love it or hate it). I love my Outlaws and the extra weight is woth it for the uniqueness and versatility they possess. Congrats on the score. All the MPC models are well built guitars and Basses.

I understand the acquired taste thing and the weight doesn't bother me. Ever toted a "T" around. They are within an ounce or two. It does feel like a bass guitar with the full access neck. Not really sure why I have it.My thing is twin 12 amps.Peavey flavored mostly. I had 9 various brand 2x12 amps at one time, now down to 5. Boss pedals are my latest gas illness.
Thanks for the welcome.

Welcome GunDecker. Boss pedals, huh?

That reminds me to mention to everyone... if you ever run across a Boss pedal called a Slow Gear don't bother trying it out.

They are way overrated. Don't ask any questions and just pm me right away.

Thank you. That is all ...

Yes, I have and yes, I had one. Odd effect and one that can be mimicked by violining away on the volume knob...

I believe that a NF-1 - the old noise gate - can be rejigged to give the same effect but the point is that the SG-1 is now horribly overpriced on the second hand market....

Thread hijack over....
