Hi all... I am an Electra enthusiast and relatively new member to the forum. (I had enjoyed the Model Index for some years, but only recently became an active forum member). I was communicating with the administrator (Paul Clark) and advised him that I am interested in offering professionally silkscreen Electra T-shirts on this forum, and wanted to be certain that was acceptable. He advised me that doing so would not break any forum rules (as long as I placed them in the For Sale section.

All that said to throw out a general question to anyone who would like input... what would you l like to see offered, if I were to print shirts? Presently, here are my initial shirt ideas:

1. Electra name & Peace logo in white with black outlines on a brown t-shirt. (The idea is to make this look like the Electra hardshell-cases).
2. Electra name / Peace logo horizontally on the chest in white on a traditional black t-shirt.
3. Large Phoenix symbol across the chest, with the Electra text turned sideways down the ribcage area on a powder blue or black t-shirt.
4. A MPC trussrod on the chest area of a black t-shirt.

I would welcome interested member input. I am a professional designer with over twenty years experience and would provide a quality product on-par with what you might find if you were buying a printed shirt at Guitar Center. These will be silkscreen shirts on either 50/50 or 100% Cotton (feel free to offer your input on that, too).

Sounds like a cool idea.

I like option 1.

Keep us posted. :)

I suggest a big outline of a wave headstock with machine heads and Electra logo. Simple white line art on a black shirt.

On the back, the back of the headstock with a fake serial # or perhaps the 60th anniversary sticker.

It'd still be cool with just the front though. I'd buy one (if it was fairly priced of course).

Oh and don't forget a football jersey with #86 and Matsumoku on the back. Electra on front with logos on sleeves. In black of course.....
lol, j/k

but I was serious about the T-shirt.
Killer idea though. I'd also be interested in an APii shirt if it was cool. Especially with a PE-R80 or similar on it! ;-)

Don't forget to make the shirt color in Antique Burst! j/k again.

I'm on board-need some Electra swag out there
I personally like T's with a smaller logo on left chest where pocket would be-Electra name and logo or headstock outline w/logo, they all sound good though. Ball caps, mugs, etc.?
Joe

Would be a cool shirt for certain. Option 1 is good as are the others. Maybe a wave headstock in center of shirt with the different truss rod covers and models spread out around the headstock on front of shirt and a big Electra Peace Sign logo on the back of the shirt. Just an idea.

I'd rock a Gibson-style Electra logo all-day long. - Super Rock headstock. :x

I'm interested, but please have an option that isn't black, I'm really sick of black t-shirts. It's just about the only option anymore.

The gibson-style logo on a shirt would be awesome now that I think about. Many guitar players would probably notice the similarity, lol. Probably irritate some Gibby die-hards though...;->

well worth it

Thanks for everyone's input. I expect to be in production with designing next week, and will post design proofs for everyone to see. I hope to go to production shortly after that, so please be checking this forum next week if you'd like to see what's brewing.

Somehow I missed the options you listed. I would like option 1 or option 3 (in powder blue).

We should be thanking you instead! This is a pretty cool idea, i'd love to sport an Electra shirt. Looking forward to the designs - also, i'd go with the #1 option as well. Any chance of long sleeve T's ? It gets cold up here in Oregon.

SHIRTS / DESIGN / FEES / ETC... Time to talk serious about this stuff (this the second time I get to type this after a misfortunate deletion of my copy).

Attached is Electra Shirt Style-A. Here's some thoughts:

ART: I found several images of the Electra Gibby-style logo online (ebay and others), and surprisingly, none of them were consistent (probably because they were from different models). That said to say... "This is the artist's representation"... (etc, etc disclaimer junk) The recreation is not perfect, but this is two-hours worth of working and reworking the tracing of the art using Adobe Illustrator CS4 (and it isn't that I'm THAT bad at the program, its just I am THAT picky about getting it right, but it is impossible to match it exactly).

ART-2: This image features both the "no-frills" logo, and a version of the same logo with the Peace symbol (I hate that its called that) underneath. Feel free to correct me, but I have yet to see these two together, so there is some artistic license where that is concerned. I'd like feedback from anyone interested in the shirts... with or without the Peace symbol? There will be another version that has it "correct" using the other "electra" type next to the Peace symbol... and maybe as a line drawing on a headstock.

ART-3: I'm using Share-A-Pic, only because it is the service I'm already signed up for (and I'm feelin lazy). It doesn't display the art huge, but you'll get the picture (bad pun). If anyone wants to see it much larger, PM me your direct email and I'll shoot you a larger JPG.

PRODUCTION: I will be working with my local shirt printer and can provide different sizes - but maybe not different colors. Generally its a mix-and-match of sizes for orders, but not colors or styles. So, there may be versions of this or others available in different colors, but for now, I'm thinking black (easy to wash with the rest of my clothes :) ... yes, this is a labor of love!)

PRICING: A black, preshrunk Gibson or Marshall Amplification T-shirt costs on average $16-$18 at online retailers (plus shipping). I want to offer my shirts for close to that, but it may be $20 per shirt + $3-$4 shipping. I think its a realistic price, but let me know if I'm freakin crazee. I can make two promises regarding the shirts... 1. The quality will be excellent - silkscreened, preshrunk 50/50 cotton poly or 100% cotton (let me know what you like), and 2. You won't see me on the cover of Forbes if I sell 5 or even 50 of these... I'm doing this because I love the brand and want to offer something to others that I would want myself. So - please provide any feedback you'd like to share. Let me know what you think of the price, 50/50 or 100% cotton (my fav), sizing (I think most of us are at least "large and in charge"). I'd like to offer long sleeves, but I'm in Florida and if I get stuck 25 unsold shirts in boxes, I'd at least like to be able to wear them (that said, if enough folks say "yeah, gimme the long sleeves" - I will do it. I have not idea on the price for long sleeves, but will find out).

You can reply here or private message me. Your input is welcomed.... here are the first draft of Style-A (click on the art to enlarge):
