Sustained water damage and has a bow or twist in neck hard to tell from pics. Maybe a truss rod adj or stream job can save her.

Oh man, that almost made me cry just looking at it. Poor dude, that would crush me if i had one of those and that happened. I hope someone can bring her back to life, this one is beyond my modest capabilities. Good luck Jead!

Did you notice all the corrosion on the bridge and pickups? Something tells me there is more wrong with this guitar than just a warped neck... Still, the finish survived nicely, I'm impressed at how good the body looks considering the soaking it got. Good luck, and be careful!

Could be a can 'o worms. If all the electronics work as stated I think they can be cleaned up. Possibly an opportunity to pot the pups as well. The neck bowed at the body seems somewhat problematic. In my experience that's an unusual spot for trouble. Cetainly this guitar is worth a pretty hefty dose of effort to make it playable. The finish issues are alittle alarming as well but again, with some care and effort, probably fixable. Lots of question marks, but I'm willing to invest the time, money and effort to give this a shot. Much of an increase in the bids will knock me out though because I anticipate the repair costs to be fairly significant.

Serial Number starts with K76, so November of 1976 build. One of the very Few 70's Electras that you know when it was made. RCS has a Maple Pro just a few months earlier with the 'cutout' headstock, so this Elvin has one of the first Wave headstocks... just for thought. I wish the pictures showed more closeups of the finish.

I have a feeling there will be a last minute bidding frenzy. Part of me says that any semi-hollow that's been soaked is never gonna be the same, but if you could snag it for under 3 or 4 Bills, it has a lot of potential.

Potential - Yup. 3-$400 will count me out. OK maybe in it around $300, but I still think it will take quite a bit of dough and time to get it back in shape - if it's even possible.

So listen up unless you're willing to pony up for the restore effort, you should keep away.

Just in case my shout didn't get through - this is my rather veiled attempt to try and keep the price low so I can actually work on the guitar.

My trapeze tail Elvin is an H76 and also a cutout headstock.

Wish me luck. I believe I'll document the process if anyone's interested.

The very best of luck to you sir, and yes... I would like full documentation on my desk, in triplicate, by this time next Tuesday.

Tell us when it shows up Jead, we're dying to know how much potential it's got!

Well folks, I'm very happy to report that I doubt there will be much of a documentation going on here as the guitar seems to be in much better shape than the seller led us to believe. I'm going to say right off the bat that the top and the back are better than my trapeze Elvin - by far. Nearly unmarked. Binding is all there and intact too. The electronics will definitely clean up - whether they'll work properly or not remains to be seen. Hardware will be shiny and nice with minimal effort. I've loosened the truss rod completely and will let the guitar rest for a few days and then have a real look see at the neck - I'm thinking this may be a very minor adjustment but am prepared to heat treat if necessary. As a bonus, the seller shipped it with the original pickguard too. I only wish the tuners were included - there's a set of pings on there now.

Don't worry - I'll post some pictures soon.
