  Anyone know whether the hidden wood bodies on early Les Paul copies are solid wood or plywood? I am suspicious of the ones with bindings on the back edge. Of course, plywood may be O.K. Probably sounds the same and would be stronger........

Hi Colin!

I need you to do me a small favor.

It appears Yahoo no longer recognizes your yahoo e-mail address and insists that user does not exist. Could you please look into this and if need be update your profile to include a working e-mail address (if in fact your original is no longer in use). Each time someone responds to one of your posts the site receives a "failure notice" indicating the mail was undeliverable.

Thanks!

I have a late 70s Super Rock 2245 with a gorgeous maple top. I was quite disappointed upon removing the pickups to find a plywood body. I'm thinking the archtop only may be plywood as the back and sides are obviously some sort of "real" wood.

Of course its worth remembering that the Gibson ES175, used by many famous jazz guitarists like Jim Hall and the late Joe Pass, uses laminated wood for the body.

Just for grins I glanced at my hollows here and it looks like they are all at least ply top anyway. A couple it's a bit hard to tell but it sure looks like a ply top anyway.
