According to the ad Electra guitars were played by the likes of "Peter Frampton and Jeff Beck" ..............

Jeff needs to come forward and confirm this.

Just an update here.

I put in an offer on this during the 1st listing that was rejected. The seller then contacted me with about 40 minutes left and made a counter. I have countered that but he did not reply. The item is relisted now for a second go around starting at $1199.

I hope he replies but I did tell him I would need it shipped to Minnesota. Perhaps that is the current sticking point. I realize some do not want to ship but then why ebay? Isn't CL for that??

In any case I would appreciate it if everyone would hold off on this one until I can determine if I have a legitimate shot at it.

Thanks fellas. Your all aces in my book.

Wow, that's a beauty -- and it's in Gilbert, Arizona --- and my middle name is Gilbert --- OMG, I'm tempted to drive out there and get it for you, Steve ---- just to hold it !!! ---but then, mercenary as I am, I'd probably hold it for ransom LOL Good luck !!! (Tell him to take it to UPS and have them pack it - bout $90)

I just emailed the seller and explained how having UPS pack and ship works, with UPS fully responsible that way. Then I checked his feedback, he only had 7 sales in 2011, with 2 negatives, don't know how Ebay is showing him at 100% in lasts 12 months; he got 2 pos and 1 neg in that period - my math isn't the best, but that looks like 66.66666% (two weeks ago, it would have been 50%) - so maybe local pickup would be best !! The largest previous sales are $125..........sure looks like a great guitar, though !!

Oh Bollocks!!! I know he could send it Parcel Post no sweat for under $40 bucks including packing materials. Danagos sent me his Pantera from New Jersey and actual ship cost was under 26 bucks, guitar and case included.

I am just going to submit a second offer thru ebay. Just trying to save him some fees is all.

Maybe you could get a good word in for me if you communicate with him again Dave?

Yeah, he's starting to talk to me pretty regularly now, I already gave you a good report -- I think the problem is he's never packed and shipped anything at all large !!! I'll send him some details on packing procedures, like loosening the strings, putting some material in case so guitar doesn't bang around, double box - and maybe he will be willing to mail it -- and I'll let him know the cheaper the shipping the less the ebay fees !!

I found a shipping company right in Gilbert that I am contacting tomorrow. The will send items out via all the majors (UPS, FEDEX, DHL, etc.) and will check on options myself. It bodes well for him that he has concerns on damages in transit but I agree it seems to stem from unfamiliarity with it more than anything else.

Hope to have good news on this in the next few days or so. Thanks Dave, you're a prince!

Ended up going for $625, which is more like it... not sure if seller stuck to the $120 shipping or not. That would be a record for shipping charges.
