Got it today. As mentioned before - $100 American dollars - came with OHSC and whammy. The seller had indicated it will "eventually need a new bridge" but never responded to my inquiry why.

At some point a hairline crack occurred in the bridge and some bonehead glued the whole thing down to the body. Also, I'm guessing the user forgot and tried to dive-bomb with the whammy and the top corner of the bridge chipped off. You can see the poxy (under the low-E) and chipped bridge (under the high-E) in the photo, but other than that, its in fine shape. Hopefully there aren't hidden issues underneath. I know its unlikely anyone has a matching spare bridge, but let me know if you do.

One tiny chip on a wing and some light scratching on the backplate - but otherwise, very, very clean (outside of needing a good fretboard cleaning and fret polishing).

Now I know why these HSH models are such hidden gems. I may have New Guitar Syndrome, but I feel like I could sell off half of my arsenal and not miss them, thanks to the tone diversity with this instrument. A shirt design is inevitable, thanks to this phenomenal beast.

Good one, man... Yeah, the h/s/h are a real gem, one of TPs finest moments if not THE finest!! I've got a couple of spectrums with the same layout nd they are very versatile indeed,

I like these things a lot and will eventually get one of the Dynasty's or preferably a Lady, but that's a long way off at the moment....

Looks good! I prefer the early Dynasty shape (like that) to the later model that had the extra points on the vee part (also had slightly different triangle parts coming out of the upper body). $100 is a great deal, even with the damaged bridge.

I've never been a huge fan of the 'Vintage' vibrato, and we've all seen guitars that have had the trem blocked off underneath to prevent any movement. Typically, without a locking nut you're going to have tuning issues anyway. I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but you could get a replacement if you wanted to. Looks like a pretty standard vintage vibrato to me, and worse case you could get an entire new assembly with the tremolo block to fit in there.

The outstanding feature of this guitar is the pickups and wiring configuration. Don't be afraid to lower the neck pickup. Lots of guys think that the pickups should be the same distance from the strings (or worse, as high up as they can go), but the strings are always going to vibrate more (louder) over the neck pickup than the bridge pickup, that's just physics at work there. This is why the Bridge pickup is usually a hotter design, in an attempt to compensate for this. With all the cool pickup combinations, you want a good blend between the humbuckers to get the most out of those options. Congrats, Mike.

~ thanks all - I truly feel like the Dr is finally "Syn"... since this took so long to acquire. I think the kid was holding out hope someone would give him $175, as it was originally advertised. I never low-balled on it - he offered to sell it for that and I jumped.

I guess I'll leave the bridge as-is. With the glue in place and the unit stable, I'd rather not have the tuning issues that are inevitable. Did any of these have units have a locking nut? I've seen Dimension IVs that did not, and I have yet to have my hands on any of the strat-style Electras. Thanks to Mike for the insight on the pickup configuration and explanation on the mechanics at work there... I'm a relatively new player (3 years exp), so every time I come to this forum and others, I learn a bit more. Thanks for the input.

No locking nut on any early Electra pointies that I am aware of. I am not certain why you would add one either on that one as it has a 6-screw Tek-Glide tremolo on it.

I'm not saying it couldn't be done, just that I couldn't understand the value of doing so.
