I'm new to this forum.
Does anyone on here know anything about this guitar/seller?

Any opinions on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ed

Hey,

Welcome!

I'm not familiar at all with that model, but everyone here is very helpful and informative. I'm sure someone will be able to advise you. (I'm relatively new also, and still learning quite a bit).

One thing, I know there's a beautiful x320 Jacaranda for sale a couple posts down. I just breezed through the ebay listing and I don't know enough about the guitars to a/b them, but if the model numbers being so close are any indication than they might be pretty similar. Take note of the price difference. Also, I'm not sure if you're one of those people who buy into the lawsuit hype (and if you are you probably already realize this), but the seller on ebay claims his guitar has a lawsuit, or open book headstock, which is does not.

Good luck

I did notice the head stock description was not accurate and I've sent a message to the seller of the x320 Jacaranda (but haven't heard back).

Hi Ed....MY OPINION....

The seller is 100-150 high with this particular guitar, case, and modules as a package deal in the current market. And, he's right....he can get a bit more than he's asking if he does break it up and sell individually. More time and trouble involved there though.

If I were interested in this guitar, I would make him an offer. You can never tell until you do. These are very nice guitars.

The X330 model is a nice finish and MPC guitar if you like the LP sunburst finish. Set neck and greta pickups. This as stated is not an open book headstock but the later transitional(modified)open book with the cutout in middle. The OSC is OK but I would prefer the Original Electra Brown Square cases that also were available with the MPC models as they offered much better protection for the MPC switch tips. The grover tuners are nice and were often used as upgrades for the Electra tuner that were stock on this model. The guitar itself is not a minty model but simply a player grade model and the case candy is exactly that(case candy for looks ie warranty card etc). the MPC modules are to say the least not in pristine condition either but in a good played used state (no labels on some and colored etc) so they would not bring a premium if sold seperatly as are the tuners with only three of the six. The pickguard is nice and as most looks like it was removed soon after purchase. The binding on the back looks a little strange around the edges so i would ask for more pics to make certain it is OK as well as pick of the MPC Battery connector and MPC module connectors. The guitar is a nice player grade and would make a nice instrument to enjoy but not at that price range. He may well get more if he parts it out or sells all seperatly but he will also have far more ebay fees if he does that. If you like the guitar I would make an offer that you are comfprtable with and see what happens. I think he has watchers that are just curious to see if he will get that price. I would say if all is OK with this package I would offer between $500-$600 range and that would still be a little on the high side of the Auto wah etc works as they are notorious for being bad usually. Good Luck.

I messaged seller about the headstock with the Norlin vs Hoshino facts. He replied graciously, and then asked my opinion on price...so I passed on what I found here, and suggested he do a BIN/Best Offer rather than part it out !!

To put a finer point on thickey's open question above...

Many of the model numbers (x330, x320... x920, x930, x940) denote various color or finish choices of the same instruments. A high model number does not always mean better in terms of electronics or build as a general rule of thumb.

Of course the Phoenix line of models would be the most obvious exception to this statement. As the numbers get higher, the build usually does get "better" for pup configurations, neck join, etc.

DON'T MISUNDERSTAND ME!! An x130 is still a wet dream of a guitar...

And an X960 isn't called an Ultima for nothing. But Ice is right - within models, the numbers denote finish and sometimes hardware.

You speak the truth there, Jead. Ultimate indeed!

But I still will take an x270 over an x280 / x290, or an x150 / x160 over an x189, or an x120 or x410 over... well, you get the idea.

Thank goodness there are more than enough models to pick from.

How about an X110 (Rock Strad) over an X110 (Phoenix)?

I've had some email communication with the seller (he bought one of my Electra shirts). He seemed like a stand-up guy to me - I think, outside of maybe the inaccuracies in the description, he's providing fair details for this one. Its a looker, IMHO... and if he can get what he wants for it in this junk economy, MPTH (i'm starting a new acronym... "more power to him")
