Hey all,

Figured maybe someone is in the area of this guy and has an older strat or tele they'd like to trade. Or drop a grand on it :)

http://sacramento.craigslist.org/msg/2913449394.html

Pickups have been changed though. And no idea if this price is realistic or not, but I enjoy hunting these bad boys down and posting them, so here it is.

Some changed parts, and seller says he added a Brass nut, which is curious because they were built with a brass nut to begin with... He is using a picture of Pauls X910 from this site.

I almost would like to see this one go to eBay just to find out what the current going rate is on these guys (and see if I got a decent deal last summer!) As always, warn seller to pack extra careful if you end up buying it.

Interesting side note, seller says that Rick Derringer signed it (was a friend of the family... orly?). Would love to hear if he remembers any conversations with Rick back then, as Rick publicly maintains he had no connection with St. Louis Music... or did he?

The seller mentioned putting it on ebay if it doesn't sell, so he most likely has a paypal account. If you got one too, you could always shoot him an email and see if he'd go directly through paypal.

Got an email response this morning....says he's leaning toward eBay on this one 'cause there is so much interest and it's apparent rarity.

Same here,I think he was chumin' the waters before ebay-don't think it's worth anywhere near his asking price with the changed out pickups, etc.
Unfortunately,if it goes to ebay with the price trends and rarity............
Joe

Same thought here gents. I also got a reply this am and he must have had numerous hits as his reply stated it will most likely hit the bay when he gets it back from tech. Also he seemed to think I was in Sacramento instead of Ga so he must have sent out multiple replies. This one will be interesting to watch. I agree that with non original pups and whatever else may be changes out the price is high but only ebay will dictate that. I think if it shows up we should all take a close look and then decide who wants to pursue this one so we don't run up the price between us. In my opinion most folks out in the bay world would not recognize it anyway much less plop out high $$$$ for it without it being in mint condition so they could flip it. If we work together on this one maybe a member can score it and enjoy it without a second mortgage. Most ebay price wars of late seem to come from sellers just like this one that do their homework and probe the market before they hype it up on ebay. Just my opinion as a way to help curb the costs of egas.. Remember we may be the source of the higher prices due to our own egas of late......... myself included......Egas ya gotta love it but ya wallet hates it.

He's going to lose 10% with the eBay and paypal fee's right off the top. I don't think the changed parts are going to affect the final price due to the model rarity. There will undoubtedly be bidders other than just us Forum members, so regardless of how much collusion here, the person with the fattest wallet (or biggest tax refund...) will take it home. Speaking of fat, the necks on these are pretty beefy, which some people like, but guys with girlyman hands (like me) might want to sit out and just take a spin on guitrails or mine at ElectraFest 2012! Cheers, Mike.
