$725 after shipping... really? I'd say someone got caught up in the moment. I think both the Ultima's Jead has sold were cleaner than this one, and went for lots less. I'd give this one a D in the value category. Let's put it this way, all three of my Semi Hollows were had for less than this... Mike.

P.S. Ok, I just realized that the purchaser may be a Forum Member, so I hope I didn't ruffle any feathers... it's just that there are better deals to be had out there.

whew! Value is hard to define in E-World now - X320 lasting less than a day @$850 etc. Of the 3 I've sold, 2 were indeed very clean - really about as good as it gets and the other was VG all were bargain priced in comparison to today - but those were way back in the days (last year) when things hadn't reached this apparently new level. Yhis model does have just about everything one could want in an Electra except a choice of finishes and powered EQ and they're really built to last. In a way I'm glad I don't have one at the moment because , once again I'd be sorely tempted to sell it. Value-wise, I'd say this one that just sold is worth every cent. Deal-wise - I suspect it's just about right these days. I'm really thinking that the upper end Electra's have found some real traction in the secondary market. A nice Phoenix can still be had for pretty good prices but they have also picked up. Probably the best deals out there are, and have been for a long time (IMO) the Electra basses. I still think they're fantastic for the price.

Who were you thinking Mike?

Hard even for me to face up to it but it seems lately to becoming an unwelcome fact that the pool of reasonable models is thinning. Shoot, even branded cases are doing well just lately.

Short of pawn shop diving and the odd CL listing by a clueless owner certain models are going to be very difficult to find from a strict value standpoint. On the other hand some (Arthur for example) who have duplicates to spare are comfortably sitting in the catbird's seat if profit is the motivation.

No one in particular, but my declaration sounded a bit harsh... I guess its my scot side coming out, but like Jead said, it wasn't that long ago that really nice examples were selling for under 4 bills. The case and modules are the wild card in a lot like that I suppose. Personally I think the bulky molded cases are not that practical, however for collectors they could be considered desirable (not to me though), and I think most people know how I feel about the modules.

CraigsList is still the best way to snatch up deals, usually the seller is a bit unsophisticated or otherwise uninformed. It is tough to get some people to ship to be certain. A lot of the guitars offered here have been pretty reasonable too (although some have been dreaming).

I'm not too picky about condition, if I can find the model I'm looking for I'm happy. I'm not collecting to resell museum pieces to the wealthy when the prices (eventually) go through the roof. Mike.
