Haven't we seen this one before? I think I recognize the seller's name from the auction.

Hmm, I don't think so, but I could be wrong. Granted I frequent the 'guitar and parts for sale' section more than the 'auction watch' though.

A different one for sure -

Something strikes me as not right. Has anyone seen a PCM with a set neck? It looks more like the Crate Electra's that are not MIJ.

I would have to see inside the control area and under the pickups to be certain but this looks to be an older PCM from the style and logo. Most of the early PCM models were bolt on necks and I have not seen a set neck before but the hardware seems correct and if it is an early one it would most likely be laminated(plywood)body. This one is not a slab body or 3 piece that I can tell from photos but I would specifically request the mentioned area photos before I would consider a bid even though the price is low. Just my two cents worth on this unusual one.

Educate me please!

PCM =Korean made? Or what does it stand for?

Also, is that style of logo only on the PCM made versions, or was that used on the SLM/Japanese versions as well (assuming there's a PCM/SLM difference.)

Thanks in advance guys

OK here we go: Two brothers had two business ventures. SLM(St Loius Music east coast) and PCM(Pacific Coast Music West Coast). Both sold various instrument including Guitars and Basses etc and were mostly made in Japan and some later in Korea. PCM versions were usually of lesser quality and build specs compared to SLM but not always so. That particular logo is seen mostly on PCM models but was also seen on early SLM models such as the strat and tele style models etc. Most early PCM models were laminated body style but not all. They seemed to evolve somewhat but the West coast brother always opted for cheaper vs quality and higher price. This may very well be a PCM prototype etc but PCM had little documentation or sales brochures etc to go by so they are somewhat of a mystery. A good look inside the cavity should give us a good clue. Hope this helps

+1 I think this might have had the headstock overlay swapped, only place on entire body where binding is chipped, worn, etc. look at pic of headstock in auction.
Have the current Electra prices brought about a little creative robbery? Can't say, tuners are wrong, pickups don't look right.......

Great eye Ozark did not notice that. You are correct in that it's all clean except fot there. It may well be a Davison set neck LP with the headstock mentioned change to headstock as those tuners do look almost identical to the ones found on a Davison set neck model. http://davisonguitarcompany.com/videos.html

Take a look at the third link to a sunburst version that is very simular other than the pickups and logo.

These guitars have a photo finish on them(ie an actual photo of a sunburst finished guitar glued over the tops of the solid wood bodies. Only way to be certain would be to request photos of the inside of control cavity and underneath the pickups at routed out area for pickups which are conviently left out of the pics here. With a NR auction they may well get burned on this one as the basic Davison Guitar goes for around $150 new. I will be watching with interest but will stay away from this one. I have a Davison model LP now in Natural/Black (photo finish) and it is an OK guitar but the electronics are where they cut the costs. Body and neck etc are not bad and would make a good starter guitar or backup after an upgrade to Electronics and pups. I have replaced all in mine with Duncan pearly Gates Pickups and new pots with Push pulls and now it plays and sounds OK.
This is a photo of my upgraded Davison on the right with my Cort on the left.
