what do you use, and do you have extra straps with other styles on them for playing other folks guitars?

I don't play live (or at all for that matter) but I have a few with Dunlop straplocks. I've got a few of the Schaller style pegs in my parts bucket... but no clips...

I have a couple of guitars that have had the nubby strap lock buttons installed on them. They will work just fine with a regular strap, provided the leather ends aren't totally stretched out, and you don't get too crazy. The Endorser I use live (most scuffed up one) has them, and I've never dropped it, or lost sleep thinking about it.

Not to spend more of your money, but I'm sure the clip part can be purchased somewhere, probably even used on eBay. Back in the 80's I had a Ibanez with strap locks, and for me the inconvenience out weighed the safety aspect. I guess I'm like those Motorcycle riders who refuse to wear a helmet in that respect (although I always wear a seatbelt!). You could replace them with standard strap buttons too.

Schallers on everything. I bought a swag from Thomanns in Germany very cheaply when we were living in Europe, and put the buttons on everything, then have about 3 or 4 straps with the locking parts....

My Vantage VA900 came with Schallers as standard, or at least it had them on from new!

Schaller on my main bass, I have a set of those plastic things that slide over a standard post and then twist to lock. They are a bit awkward but they work and can be moved from guitar to guitar.

Dunlop original Strap Lok's on most - a Schaller or two. I bought one of these Planet Waves Planet Lock straps specifically for the Semi's and it works real well. I'm thinking no more strap loks in the future. Not padded but a ptretty comfy strap - better than I expected.

Dunlops are the best! Tried many things, but these hold really well
