What did they come out of? I think you're only measuring one coil when you got your resistance reading. The 45's are a pretty consistant ~11.5k Ohms, and your 5.9k figure is about half. When I was measuring a pair, I had to twist two wires together to get the full reading... unfortunately I can't remember which pair, but hey, there's only three or four wires, it didn't take that long with trial and error to figure it out. Mike.

I agree with the measurement Mike mentions - I've come across more than a few where you can measure each coil and 11.5KO's is usually about top end for them.

You may have the neck and bridge pups mixed up. Most often the bridge is the hotter pup.

Typically the bridge pickup should be hotter, because the strings don't vibrate as much close to the end points, and the signal needs some help. However, the bridge pickup on these guitars should have four conductors so that the phase can be reversed, so I think he's got the right pickup. The MMK's are usually closely matched as far as output, and I end up almost burying the neck pickup so the bridge output is perceived as hotter at the amp (the important thing!). Mike.

Thanks. I have a set that has a slight difference like yours. I got them unlabeled and always assumed the hotter one was for the bridge.
