Watch out for what the seller describes as a 'finish crack' though. It's hard to tell from the picture if it's just in the finish. Weird if it is as I can't see finish cracking that way, so I'd assume the worst. That looks like one sweeeeet guitar though!

Also weird he has it pictured in a case but his auction description states "no case".

Anyone else notice what appears to be the beginning of a stress fracture at the upper neck just below the headstock?... or am I just seeing a goofy reflection?

Uh, most of the reflections I see are goofy...sorry, that's another topic --- sure looks like a neck/headstock crack to me, too, kinda half-moon on neck extending on one side up into headstock -- a friend just got a 72 SG with an almost identical crack -- soooo common on gibbie-style guitars !!

Yep, I think that's what he's referring to as the 'finish crack'. Could even be an old repair, maybe the finish was just touched up well enough where the seller can't tell. Ha, doubt it though.

That nut looks wrong too. Way big in the pic.

Not the original pups to be certain.

I thought this was the same guitar as this other estate X110 with the same plating flaking off on the neck plate:

But no, they are two different guitars sure enough. Despite the weird nut, changed pickups, changed tuners, changed knobs... I think this one for $300 is an ok deal. I think the top is a little nicer, the headstock is in better shape and it could be a good candidate for refurbishing.

I was looking at the index just now, and it looks like the Rock Strad pictured there is the VERY guitar that is being offered in the link above I posted... just as trivia for those interested. The picture of the back shows the exact flaking pattern on the neck plate, and the body grain is a match too. Looking at the headstock photo you can see the same chip on the bass tip of the headstock. I still say that one has been rode hard and put up wet. It may be totally original, but the seller wants top dollar for the wear and tear it has. Mike.

Ha, I think the seller may be watching this thread. Every time someone mentions the price he lowers the BIN. 2nd time it's been lowered and it's now at $325.

The tuners are different on the back of the headstock pics - or is it just me?

Or maybe the tuners were replaced with the newer Electra brand ones - or did I miss that?

And one has the foil sticker - and the other doesn't -





I will agree that the back plate on each looks to be somewhat similar though ............

Yeah, different guitars for sure. The woodgrian/shade of the wood on the back of the headstock is different, and that's something you can't change.

Top one looks like it had a headstock repair.
