The guitar that I have here was passed down to me from a grandfather, from searching Electra forums and the Electra Guitars website found at http://www.rivercityamps.com/electra/2242.php, I believe that the body of the guitar I have (pictured below) is the 2242 with an X310 neck and head.

Of the users on here, I would like to see if anyone could verify this information for me. Basically I want to see if I can verify whether this is or is not an actual 2242, because if it is, it will be worth significantly more money.

looks like a '76 2242 with upgraded tuners to me... the x310 was a set neck MPC, where this one should be a bolt neck...

Thank you mcbrat you have given me a very great jumping point for pricing this guitar at any local music shop. A little disappointed that it isn't the true 2242, but given your information and the research I have done, I believe that I can successfully sell it for a decent price. Thanks again mcbrat!

well, it is a true 2242, but that particular model changed specs over the years and different manufacturers made them. from the few pics, yours looks to be in excellent condition, and the upgraded tuners do it well. it has the "cut-out" transitional headstock that was used briefly between the Gibson "open book" style and the Wave headstock.

I agree with the others. It seems to be a 2242 from about 1976-77 or so as it has the cut out open book style headstock and still has the gold covered pickups. The later models have the wave headstock and also different pickups. Looks to be in nice shape and it should be a bolt on neck. Good luck with the sale and think about giving the members here a chance at this one and you can be certain it will be cared for and enjoyed.
