http://dallas.craigslist.org/ndf/msg/3144696860.html ----- I'm just curious, any truth to the "neck (headstock I think he means) was altered at the factory" stuff or just more misinterpretation of the Norlin/Hoshino lawsuit ??

This type of headstock is known as the transitional style headstock as it was the go between used in the transition from the open book style and the wave style. These were already produced open book style headstocks that were modified with the cut out at the open book on top of the headstocks in order to be able to use the already produced necks. Most of these are on the 1977 models and are still a great neck. Hope this helps.
